oh the high-levelers drama lol i'll stay out that subject but welcome to the game - it'll be a bit frustrating at times but u'll get the hang of it - sounds like u know how MMORPGs tend to work as a whole so that'll help - ughm my best recomendation would to be to study the alphabet charts of both hiragana and katakana. once you can read them and even type them yourself you can kinda go from there and learn basic vocab and senetence structure. and kanji? well phuk kanji lol unless u become hardcore at the other two don't bother worrying about kanji.

Why not just make a shout for a Raise2 hunt, stating first drop is yours, the rest are free lot. All the Raise2 hunts I have been in have always dropped at least twice. I bet even Lemia could do that ^-^

i didn't know much JP before i started to play FFXI, i only passed and memorize a few words including studying the first few lessons at www.japanese-online.com but as you play more, you'll learn more...

and the most probably reason why a person doesn't have all the summons is not because of language but more because of the fact that you don't have a LV60+ job to get them :spin: :spin: :spin:

I've been in 3 raise2 hunts...no drops... I think it's safe to say I'm giving up on those.

Exactly...so seul was trying to say why play smn to a high level if you don't even have any of the good summons yet..You're totally useless in a pt with outdated curing.

A summoner with only carbuncle is a second rate white mage that is only half as good as a normal one (thats if the smn subs whm). Limited curing, no status curing, sub-par protective spells, no teleports, you name it. Plus, Blink-all is a godsend for the melee classes, but that only comes with Garuda. Plus, Carbuncle is a weak little turd that hardly does any damage. So I uh....guess all you can do is Ruby Light (yay?).

So basically, if the Summoner doesnt have Garuda and maybe a few of the others, there's no point in inviting him/her. Get yourself a brd and a rdm/blm.

The complaints about Lemia are not unfounded.

A summoner with only carbunkle is bad.

However, that's not the problem, party members talked about Lemia having never used even Carbunkle's few existing abilities. Just summon carbunkle and attack!

Yes, there are many reasons why Lem doesn't play summoner anymore :spin: He's taking DRK up to 60 first, getting the summons, THEN resuming summoner. Sure, he COULD get to level 60 SMN w/ just carbuncle, since healers are hard to find... but he's not, unlike some people who don't care how much they're contributing to their PT and just level.

I'm not gonna name any names here (mostly cuz I'm not acquainted with most of them :p ), but I see a LOT of importers nowaday (meleers who don't upgrade their equipment, etc) who don't care about how well the perform, they just wanna hop into a party and level. I don't care if archer rings are expensive, or if a certain spell is too hard to get... it's your duty to take time off and not level until you get it. Yes, I know equipment starts to get really expensive starting the 50's... deal with it how you like, but have it all.

And elite I want my goddamn amulet back :mad: lol

Everyone, copy and paste this somewhere...make it your desktop...tattoo it on your arm, or whatever. Just take this advice. Nothing is worse than a mage who cant save the pt cause he cant teleport/escape/cure/protect/etc., or a melee who is dying at a very rapid pace cause he's still wearing that old useless EQ. Nothing sucks more than higher level pts being stuck with old ƒvƒ?ƒeƒA.

I will always remember the time in pt where it was asked, "Can I dezone back to Jeuno to buy Blizzard?" I cringed, and prayed that god would have mercy on his soul.
