Try making your own PTs (and have some patience waiting for specific members) I (ranger) have been in a set PT with a whm and a rdm for the last week or so, and last night even after we waited for 1+ hour for a bard to pop, we got like 18000 exp in 3.5 hours Everybody in the PT leveled. It was great^^

Awn, nest became literally crapply place for that level to pt now. Goto boyahda with a brd and you'll get the exp far gets ^^

Man, what I would give for 18k per 3.5 hours :/ Do we need a pally or war to get that? I find it lame how there are 18 jobs and only 2 of them can tank :/

They all can tank (melee jobs that is), except Drk. Just some do it better then others

As long as you don't activate any attack ups, Drk is the third best tank (Pld and War go before it). Monk or sam takes more damage, wastes more MP. Thf or ninja tank, thf or ninja die. Pld is best, big gap then war, hugeass gap then drk, then come the rest.

however, drk w/ attack ups = paper defense

DRG > DRK in terms of tanking, even with flimsy equip.

:/ Are you sure? With defender up and absorb vit I was taking less damage (no pld you tend to alternate w/ the other "barely tankables") per hit... maybe that one had really crappy stuff... dunno :/

For us, basically, it goes like this. Me for my JP skillz, lone (monk with insanely high damage due to excessive +attack items) and sey (elvaan whm who can tank better than me :/), and we have a bit of trouble w/ renkei, so I like to invite a war to tank instead of a pld, because they can join in on the renkei. Most monsters require the incurve renkei, which requires a penetration ws > slashing ws combo. Monk's grapples can't ever do slashing, and penetration WS won't happen until he's level 60. As a result, we have sort of a problem. Still, if we can get a good war, we're good. It just requires a lot of waiting in Jeuno, that's all :/ Basically, our pt has 3 open positions. One slot is either rdm or brd <- hardest to fill, one slot is pld or war, prefably war for renkei, but pld is good. Worst case, we go freestyle WSing. Third slot is any mage class, prefably blm, but if u have a drk and a mnk (and a rdm or brd to dispel defense ups on the monsters) in a PT, ur about set damage-wise :p If you don't have a brd or a rdm to dispel the damage ups........... you're ****ed. Bottom line is, you NEED a rdm or brd, or else you don't have a PT.

BTW we're currently 55~56, if you're around here and want in, give a PM, we'll see what we can fix up ^^

I've got to say, DRK and MNK aren't all that compatible in a PT (if you want a "curve" renkei). My suggestion would be...

1. Stick to fighting skeletons and invite PLDs. At 55-56 you can still chain the skeletons at Eldieme.

2. If you really want a curve renkei, maybe you should consider getting a thief and one of you two fighters hold down your ego and become a tank.

3. Change PT members

I have to say, RNG has a similar problem with DRK and MNK too, they're not all that compatible, so I never invite them when I lead a PT. (An exception is a Galka MNK which is OK I guess)

I'm not quite sure how you see that a DRK isn't compatible in an Incurve renkei (MNK's, yes) as at level 49 a Scythe exclusive DRK can fit anywhere into an Incurve renkei and a DRK who's efficiant with 2hd sword can using PowerSlash and/or Hard Slash.

I'm not saying DRK can not use curve renkei. Reread my message please.

I'm saying, that MNK and DRK *together* are not compatible with each other when doing a curve renkei. Because they both fill the "#2" (kantsuu) part of the renkei.

(Same with Ranger's WS, all "kantsuu" attribute)
