  • Today Is The Day (I Hope)

Ok today is the day that I will be joining FFXI (finally) I got all the information that I need. All I got to know is see if the damn thing will work xD. But basides that I am pretty happy about playing today! Anyway, I wanted to ask when I start, should I ask people for help? go level? start quests and or missions etc...or should I be a noob and shout for gil LOL!! jk but yeah...well thanks to all of those that have helped me these past couple days. Well, cant wait to see you all in Vana'diel!

Take a look at the newbie threads to get more of a feel to the game.

I remember my first day of playing.....I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Luckily for me, my brother has been playing for awhile and he was kind enough to show me around and powerlevel me for the first few levels.

But still.... being dumped into windy waters with no idea where to go and 10 gil is pretty scary!

Vana'diel is a wide and wonderful world. My best advice that I can give you is to take it at your own pace and concentrate on the things you enjoy most, be it levelling, crafting, or just exploring. There's no schedule, no time pressure.

Just do whatever gives you the most satisfaction, take your time, and you'll do fine.

Well.. I dont even remember what I first did when I first played x.x But I think that its best to not worry about missions and other quests for the first week(s) of playing. Get level 18, level an appropriate subjob, get level 20, go to Jeuno.. And I think then you got a good feeling of how the game works, and know when it's time for missions or other quests. By then you might have a linkshell too, or some friends who you can ask for advice when you need to. Usually, new adventurers () level up a little, but then get bored already and try to do missions, quests, or aimlessly wander around, and don't get anywhere at all for a long while! x.x Thats why I think its best to get used to continue leveling, and only leveling. That may sound boring, but later theres plenty of other things do besides leveling!

Edit: Well partially I do agree with Icemage, theres no time limit at all, dont be in a rush, but I dont think its good to do nothing at all, or things like.. crafting. For a new player, and at low level with not too much gil, crafting is pretty useless and costs much gil

Ok, I am running into a problem, I would first like to admit that I played FFXI when it first came out in 2003 for the ps2. But I havent played it in almost 2 years, I tried getting back on in October, but it said I had the wrong POL ID or password, and I havent changed in of this information sense I quit. Did my account get deleted or what? on top of that I lost the game it came with, so I dont even know the bar code thing that I need to re-sign up. Or can I re-activate my old POL ID? I cant do it till 8pm my time tonight though because of the servers being down and all. Someone please help me so I can please play I am confused....:|
