    taken from:
    http://killingifrit.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=51122

Til' my program is released I found a VERY interesting program
    {Please sticky :x}

Here is a small walk threw on how to type in japanese on the NA version BUT this way is very annoying :\

    _____________________________________________
    STEP ONE
    Seeing the text

    Download the JP Langage pack

    _____________________________________________
    STEP TWO
    Seeing the text2

Start >> Control Panel >> Langage and regional options >> Advanced(i think) make sure ANY THING JAPANESE is downloaded >> Restart PC

    _____________________________________________
    STEP THREE
    Downloads

    Download this program:

    FFXI Macro Editor

    Then this program:

    NJ Star

    ______________________________________________
    STEP FOUR
    Setting up the editor!

    Open the FFXI Macro Editor
If it doesnt bring up a file open box click on File>>Open then it will bring up how ever many charaters you have in order of the charater selection screen of FFXI. Pick the charater you want to open

NOTE: When you paste it will show up as mumbo jumbo but will work in game!
    ______________________________________________
    STEP FIVE
    Setting up the Japanese!

Open NJStar type what you want, then highlight it all right click go to Copy As and it is "Shift-something here" Copy that the NORMAL COPY AND PASTE WILL -NOT- WORK IT HAS TO HAVE THE "Shift-something" go back to the Macro editor and hit CRTL+V It will paste it. Then go to File >> Save it takes about 5 seconds - 1 min for it to show up in game

    _______________________________________________
    ENDING
This guide was made by Senoska and you are kindly asked you do not copy this and call it your own. My program will be released soon so it makes all one step. I will make my own post with guide pictures and all. KI knows it frist! (Tho this meathod has been around for awhile not many know it :\) My program will be posted on the new thread I will be making. Using this in windower is a very effective way of typing in japanese.

wait, you're not typing inside the game but editing it into macro outside game right?

What if I don't want to use a windower? Or use macros like that? Sure, it works, but you have to admit it's a little inefficient ...

Yeah, that doesn't allow you to actually type in Japanese in-game, it only allows you to use Japanese in macros. Old news...

On a side note, I tried this simply so I could use some kaomoji (like (*´Д`*)v), but even though my friend walked me through it step by step several times exactly the way he did it, it didn't work for me.

thats a good question cause the NA version of the game does not allow jp input at all, even if u manage to force the little jp boxes up or have IME installed, it will not allow jp input, so i'm wondering how the program he says he's developing tricks FFXI and allows him to input JP

While not entirely on topic, I've been meaning to do this but with my Bazaar comment instead of macros, for the sake of saving some space.

However, no matter how hard I look I cannot seem to find the file in which the Bazaar comment is stored, any idea?
