It's because of your hate level with the Tonberries. There's a quest to lower it where you have to pay gil.

On an unrelated note: Eoyote when are you gonna start your new character and Static with me, Superpuma, Bluemarlin, and Frostyone. quick clarification:

What Rodin said is true of Everyone's Grudge.

However, the attack this tonberry did was Everyone's RANCOR. What happens in this case is the each party member's grudge level are added into one attack.

The tank's grudge could be at 30, but the whm's grudge could be at 700, the rdm at 500, and the last two members 200 each, and Everyone's Rancor would do 1730 whereas Everyone's Grudge would do 30 to the tank.

This is why EVERYONE needs to reset their hate before Zilart Mission 4.

Is bonze the only Tonberry who uses Rancor, or are there others? If anything, we'd like to avoid resetting our hate until after we complete zm4 for the time being, seeing how its kinda costly.

ya no kidding, did that mission and i got everyones rancor hit me (rdm) for 7829 dmg >.< lets just say some people in my pt weren't telling the truth in reseting x.x
