    • To neighbortaru: Are you kidding? We look cool in M.C. Hammerpants. Sheesh, we look good in anything! As for the Galka, I'm not sure if that was his first job. I do know he is also a level 75 Ranger and has at Summoner and Ninja to at least 37.
Haha, I suppose it is all subjective.

Let me tell you, it's no fun to see a Galka BLM in Igqira Weskit. It looks... How to say this... Blue... And... Gross
Actually, I think it looks cool. It suits them.

      Thanks Yyg!

      • Hehe Vivian hates ya, Fal. Also, I noticed when you walk around town as your SMN, you wear the Seer's Robe instead of the Austere Robe. At least someone has fashion sense. <.< Oti always wears his Austere stuff everywhere... says he likes looking like a bum. He says he wants to wear it to our wedding, but I would break it off if he tried it. :p I'm forcing him to come as his WHM in his Holy Breastplate, anyway.

/sigh I need "around town" wear... I don't have my AF shirt or my wedding dress yet.

To Kyrial:  Yeah I know. I hate her. I bet you that when the ring does drop, I'll get the low lot on it or something.

Well, I used to wear my Federation Aketon but I'm trying to sell it for 400K (I sold my last one for 300K). Prior to having that though, I do wear the Seer's Tunic, Wind Staff, and AF legs & feet (matching Green, Black, and Gold as you see in that picture). I used to wear the Austere stuff but I decided it made me look like an old man fisherman. I guess you can say I'm dumb like that, trying to look stylish. I always have my Shaded Specs on around town though. They are too cool and paying about 800K for them, I better get some use out of them.

Oti is your husband-to-be I presume? What level SMN is he? I remember when I talked to you as I was leveling my Red Mage, he was still a SMN. Eww.. Holy Breastplate? That is nasty ugly. At least get him to get his AF as WHM.

In town wear? I'll sell you my Aketon if you'd like, 400K. Or I'd give it to you for free if you wanna marry someone who has a little more "style".

To Tchernobyl: Yeah, I never knew her drops were like this. I just figured people didn't have the ring because they don't like messing with the spiders or marlboros. Turns out her drop rate is nasty.

You too huh? Any reason why you cancelled (your members, people, etc.) or did you feel your time has come to move on? Sometimes I have that feeling too (quitting). I think maybe my time to move on with my life will come soon unless Promathia starts getting cooler. I mean the missions are cool, but I mean in terms of actual equipment I can use. After all, both my roommates (one a former FFXI player, another a current FFXI player) are playing the WoW open beta. It looks pretty fun. I don't know though, I don't know if I can handle another MMORPG. Don't worry, I got some missions for you to see soon.

To Kyrial: Tchernobyl is totally right. Mithra to level 60 please. A Mithra... in the Fighter's Lorica... showing off her... tan skin, cute tummy...looking hot.... Yeah... that's the town gear you should use.

Here you see my party venturing in the deep parts of Pso'Xja after obtaining the Key Item pass from the Tenshodo. I know you guys have been waiting for this moment. Enjoy!

                    • Yeah, kindof that time. Mostly that there wasn't really much left to do (level 75, fought hnm, gods, kirin, got kickass gear, had 4 of 5 af2, that kind of stuff).
That and the onslaught of gil sellers/botters, mpkers still existing after months of activity, damn claim bugs, the idiotic "wait for 3 hours to *try* and claim a mob", and SE's absolute refusal to do anything about some of those problems... If devs don't really care about the game, why should i?

(That and WoW seems entirely too fun . just to see how much more the devs seem to love the game they're making... http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/147308.shtml That's devotion, damnit :p FFXI doesn't even have an animation for that emote!)

                        • That's a tactful way of putting our Fafnir attempts. I'll just leave it at that.

Cool Promathia pics as always. I know it's kind of a bland comment, but at this point I've given up on attempting to anticipate where the plot's gonna go, since it keeps throwing new curveballs like this one. All I have to say, though ... is I don't personally feel the kid is all that bad.

Dynamis, hmmm ... I'll let your original group do (or try, though I really do hope you win) Windurst too. After that, we'll see. I'm certainly interested, and it looks like your group is totally capable of handling them (unlike the last time I went).

I guess the only thing that could remain is interpersonal or inter-LS politics. Then again, I always was like a bull in a china shop as far as politics go, so I'll likely just do whatever I feel is best.

And once again ... that is one stingy malboro. Or should I say, Giant Tentacular Horror ... not that anyone ever seems to get that reference.

I'm feeling a little pleased with myself. Did San d'Oria 6-1 and 6-2 last night, with 3 people for both. 6-2 was super easy, 3 NM skeletons that can be sneak-pulled (and two of them despawned because we were in no hurry to kill the one we pulled).

6-1 was a lot more difficult and thus more fun, as it was an NM cactuar (1000, not 10000 Needles, thankfully). Due to subjob quirks, there were no curagas available either. Made for a *very* interesting battle, but we won with no deaths (except Sacrificial Titan, he died about two dozen times).

To Tchernobyl: Oh definitely. I know exactly what you're talking about in terms of "things left to do". I don't know how fast I was in terms of people on the other servers... but if you kept up with my thread, you'll know I shot from low levels to level 75 pretty fast, especially on my server. On top of that, I got to taste the life of HNM Hunting long before anyone else had on my server. People say I am lucky and I'm sincerely grateful for my opportunities in FFXI & especially thankful to the Japanese HNM Linkshell that had faith in me. However, I keep stressing to people, that doing too many things too quickly can burn you out... I'm proud of the screenshots I can show people. Time and time again, readers of this thread tell me how grateful they are that I'm doing this. At the same time, I feel kind of sad that there is nothing new for me. I actually look forward to posting screenshots instead of playing! I look at those who know me on the server, many of them are just starting to get past level 65s. I've been through "more" than they have in the same amount of time. The difference? They are still happy. They still look forward to things. They can actually say "man, I can't wait to finish Zilart" or "I can't wait to be able to afford the Scorpion Harness." I look forward to nearly nothing.

After all, look at what we high levels (in HNM LSes) do regularly. We fight and/or hold/compete for the same HNM monsters, 3 Kings, 4 Ru'Aun Gods, Kirin, and do Dynamis over and over. It is very much a chore and you must have dedicated members, who will sacrifice their real life time in order to camp a mob at a certain time of day. Most of us have all the "dream" gear we could want. Most of us are just missing a couple pieces. I for one am complete. All I need is the RDM AF2 Feet, the BLM AF2 Pants and Feet to complete both jobs. What else is there to do?

There are even those who are level 75 but aren't in an HNM shell. Are they mad that they aren't? Sorta, but not really. A lot of them are actually turned off by the fact that they have to wait 3 hours of their day for a possible spawn of an HNM that other shells are competiing for. They go off and have fun doing something else.

I was hoping Promathia would provide me with an outlet. I'm very satisfied with Promathia's missions but also disappointed in the content. The 3 Wyrms are very interesting but their drops suck ass. The Mercurial Pole is worth nothing to me (multi-attack? No thanks, I'll stick to my Kirin's Pole). The feet from Tiamat? That's 12% movement speed. 12% isn't *that* great, as I have used my Federation Aketon in Windurst and wasn't impressed with the speed difference. I've experienced Jormangund several times already and I seen/heard of the drops. Now, if they dropped something worthwhile, something I'd aim for, I'd do it. But I have the best armor for BLM & RDM.

Now it sounds like I'm unhappy with FFXI the way I'm writing this, but I'm not to the point where I want to quit. I do know that it may or may not happen soon. S-E is always releasing periodic patches with new content. I expect one soon, so in one of these patches, there may be something for me to do. There are times though when I log in and then walk off and do something else around the apartment. I'm very sure you high-ends (especially those in HNM shells) know what I'm talking about.

As for World of Warcraft, yes it does look *very* fun. Even still, those I knew back in my Warcraft 3 days continue to ask me almost on a daily basis if I'm going to play WoW. It is almost like I'm expected to play. I watch my roommates play on a daily basis (one of the reasons I'm AFK a lot on FFXI now). Many people argue that it looks "simplistic" and "cartoonish", but that's the appeal of that game. Sometimes simplicity is better. It is different and the same as FFXI in many ways. The basic fundamentals of a MMORPG are there, but it is different enough to provide a refreshing change.

As for the Blizzard Developers, yes. They are very into feedback. They listen to their players. S-E usually makes their changes on the people who test things on the Atomos server and some changes on feedback. Blizzard on the other hand, has direct interaction with the players. The actual developers would log into Starcraft & Warcraft 3 and join the popular clan channels. They would even play games with those members and make the changes some of the best players would complain about in the next patch When I was a the highest rank Warcraft 3 player on the server, one of the developers actually gave me their e-mail so I could send them replays and discuss balances issues during the Warcraft 3 Expansion beta. Now that's listening to your userbase. I agree that Blizzard may provide fixes to problems faster than S-E could when WoW goes official.

To Vilurum: By no means am I dogging Ascension. I'm actually proud of them for what they've gone through as the first NA HNM LS on our server. I'm very good friends with Silverblood and the only times I know of that you've hunted him in detail is the 'Tarantula' and the 'Fly' mishaps. I told him to keep trying if he really wants him that badly and to not give up. You just have to get the others to agree and show up on time. Sorry if it looked like I was insulting Ascension, I didn't mean it to be interpreted that way. I was just referring to the accidents; afterall, you were competing against my LS and I hear what happens around that time every night anyway.

As for Promathia, yeah... I told you before I stay away from "prediction/theory" ideas. It just ends up sometimes what you predict is totally different from what actually happens. I guess the only benefit you get is exercise for your brain cells (which isn't a bad thing). It is a neat story so far though.

Dynamis? Sure, when you're ready, let me know. I'll shoot it towards the right person. Vivian, I hate you... Congrats on Sandy missions. You'll have all Rank 10 soon!

Sure I'm only lvl 30, but I'm kinda getting disenchanted with the whole back line thing. I feel the urge to get up front where the action is and will take up PLD in a few days.
