how to join FF- help please!

Hiya
I am new to this forum and have joined because I could not for the life of me get anything from the Playonline site without a Playonline login and god knows how you get one, do you need to install a game to get one?!
ANyway, I have very basic questions. I am not new to FF, I've played many of the games but I haven't played FFXI and I would love to but before I go and buy it I need to confirm some things.

Im in the UK, I can play on European servers yes? AND
How much is it a month?!

Its all I want to know! I just need to know where I am before I begin. Any other info will be appreciated though of course.

You need to install Final Fantasy XI and/or Tetra Master to get the PlayOnline Viewer you'll need to register for a PlayOnline ID. Basically, you have to buy and install Final Fantasy XI Online.

There are no region-specific servers. There are players from around the world on every server.

How much is it a month?!

It's $12.95US per month. I think that equates to something like 7 pounds sterling (UK) or 10 Euros per month.
