Rather /random is server side or client side, I have no idea...

But I have to agree that, pre94, you made the deal yourself, you placed your emperor hairpin out, and you said something along the lines of 'I will give this to whoever that win'. Now, give the winner his hairpin, you have no evidence of him cheating at all. So everytime you hold a casino, as long as someone won the jackpot, you will say he cheated... That can be class as 'Scamming' I would think ^^

The best way to guarantee your victory is, set the bid low, give big item like emperor hairpin, then set the condition harsh, ie you MUST get 500 exact with 2 tries on /random to get the hairpin, only require 10k to take a try~ or something. It's easy to lot high, a range between 1-1000(?), you have 50/50 chance in high or low, but to random an exact number means 1/1000 chance.

Last note, grow up and be responsible for your own action, you lost the game, take this as a lesson as to not place such valuable in casino so easily.

Just for comparison's sake, /wait and /echo are handled client side. So try out this macro if you want to see the results for yourself:
      /random
      /wait 5
      /echo My random should follow
      /wait 1
      /random

Pull your internet connection while the /wait 5 is going. You will see your /echo go off at normal time, but your /random won't fire because it isn't controlled client side.

Thanks for pointing out that /random is server side.

I only thought it was Client side because I was told so by a friend in-game (not really a reliable source eh?).

However, I was also told that there is a way to /random any number you want by using an external program. Perhaps the person who told me this was just lying or misinformed.

People have been asking about the supposed /random hack almost scince it was intoduced in the game. Everyone wants it, but nobody has it. Honestly, i think its just one of those prevailing rumours, and nothing more. Unlike thing like fishing bots or the (former) speed hack, that people accually know (knew) exist and with a bit of seaching they aren't (weren't) too hard to find.

probably a keylogger since there's no way to mess with random, its server side.

              other side

well since everyone here is on one side of the fence i might as well jump to the other side. I am a import from about 2.5 years ago and i have seen come crazy stuff happen. My friend rolld a 998 for a assualt jerkin and lost to a JP BLM too a 999 roll. the odds of that are extremely extremely slim.

i have conducted tests since the begining of the game, and this is what i have come to realize ( or my belief, flame me or what ever, but i will not loose sleep over this )

i feel that the game is far from random, that there are so many varibles in the game that it seems random.

              about /random

what it in fact is, is something similar to the price is right wheel. a wheel with 999 numbers on it randomly placed on there once. so i feel that if you cast lots a specific time consquectivly that you will roll about the same number every time. so like 1-999 then 0 is right next to 999 to start over the cycle. ( something like that ) life for instance try casting lots on 5 items as fast as you can. the first cast lot will be "XXX" then the next will be "XXX- a number depending on fast you hit it." then so on till the cycle restarts its self.

what i do to ensure that i roll high is look up at the top of the screen to the message / email icons. when they disapear to reveal your S and R, and the S and R change you click the button. this will help you get a high roll. then you wait till you see it again. the japanese have masterd this i feel, hense why they roll so damn high in the treasure pool.

anywho just thought i would run that theroy past you. and also since this is a computer ( and this has been argued many times before on this site ) but nothing can be random. just there is somuch to it and this equation is so large it just seems random.

the lots are like on a wheel or a for statement in programing there is a way to control them in /random with timing i think i can get around a 800+ lot or a 100- lot if i time it only inbetween those two numbers... but if you bet something you can not call him a cheater for winning-_- gambling is taking risks you gamble you lose you win. my method is roll exactly when ingame clock goes by one digits i have not tested it enough to see if it works but i think it does O.o

                  Talon>>

/random is like a loop between 2 and 999, the chance of getting 2 and the chance of getting 999 is the same. Did you party with that JP all the time, and everytime he wins?
Me and my bro always lot in PT, this one time, he lotted 20, the chance of me winning is 21-999, and losing is 2-19, so you'd think I'd win, yeah? Well guess what, I rolled 16, and he got the item... did he hacked?
                  For the clock thing, me and my friend always /random when we can't decide on something, we use /random as coin flip, and we do it at the exact same time, 50% of the time we got simular result, and another 50% of the time, our result are opposite... So is it time related still? O.o;

And about the "nothing can be random", actually /random is the simplest in programming, I forgot what the code was in C++, but when I was playing with it, that was the 1st thing I learned, to set a random range for the loop to cycle within.

So far, I have had 50% winning rate and losing rate in lotting, whatever I lot on, whoever I partied with. I even won the almighty JP in AF coffer key lot, when they needed it as much as I do.

well this has been something that i have experienced with all JP Parties. if there is lotting that takes place, it consists of insanely high rolls. but if i try to roll a high number on something. i will in turn roll a high number. my friend did my trick, on the joyuse sword ( sorry cant spell attacks 2 times occasionaly ) and he go a upper 800 roll.

just something i recomend fiddling with, and not to be passive to the fact that it might not be random.

I party with JP 90% of the time and their rolls are just as random as anyone else's. Please, no more of these 'JP have it worked out' lines - they don't.

actually talon case is valid. another way to notice this is to simply have a friend send you a message. now head out to find a mob it takes you a few hits to kill. now watch the top right hand corner of the screen. when you see THE S.R numbers you will hit high. WHEN YOU SEE THE MAIL ICON. you will hit for less. so why wouldnt /random work of the same principles??
