A quicker way to exit the game?

Is there any way to exit FFXI completely from the gameplay screen? After I wait my 30 seconds to log out, it's kind of annoying to wait>tab>wait>tab>wait through 3 more menus.

You may risk loseing your character that way.. i suggest you not do that.. just go to Mog house and log off... ( ・ω ・)

Mog house is fast, then use the escape key.

Escape is faster than tabbing around, because it brings you to the exit option fast. So once you get used to it, you can log off of FFXI then go ESC RETURN, ESC RETURN, ESC RETURN and basically have play online closed as well.

I wish there was a faster way also. It isn't the 30 second log out, that is standard in MMORPGS, its then having to go through all of this other stuff. I would like a "log all the way" option as well.

Not complaining about the 30 sec wait; as was noted, that's standard. It's just all the retarded POL menus I have to go through.

BTW, Esc>Return isn't exactly the fastest. After you exit FFXI and you're dumped into the POL Viewer, hit F11 and go to Log Out, and you can skip the Games and POL menus, going straight to the first menu you see when you turn it on. Whee, 5 seconds saved.

I had always thought that the "don't exit FFXI without going through all the step, you might lose data" was only a legal disclaimer. But then my computer crashed after I had just changed several macros, and it turns out that if you don't log out properly, your macros aren't saved. So I had to rewrite them again, and now I'm always taking extra care to leave properly.

I stumbled across a pretty quick way to log out of all the POL junk.

Right click on the FFXI screen you get booted to (after the 30 sec. wait to log out) and select "Log out". This will put you at the main POL menu, where you can just select "Exit Viewer", hit yes on the confirmation box, and you're done.

Much quicker than the "wait>tab>wait>tab>wait" rigamarole.

I thought I was being relatively straightforward in what I was asking, but I guess I need to clarify.

From the point where one is in-game, there are 7 steps to completely closing down FFXI/POL:[list=1]
[*][in-game] Type /logout (wait 30 sec)[*][at FFXI title screen] Click Back (wait)[*][at POL FFXI menu] Click Back (wait)*[*][at POL Games menu] Click Back (wait)[*][at POL Main Menu] Click Log Out (wait)[*][at POL Login Screen] Click Exit Viewer, Click OK[*][program exits][/list=1]

I'm asking if there is a way to go directly from step 1 to step 7, or at least step 6, other than just End Task-ing on the whole deal (not a practical solution). Sort of a /closetheentiref'ingapplicationsuite.

*note: you can skip from step 3 to step 6 by hitting F11 (or right-clicking) and selecting Log Out

Spider-Dan, I know exactly how you feel. I hate having to wait a couple of minutes just to log off. I usually hit the windows key after the 30 second /logout and close it out anyways. I haven't had any problems with it before.
They should really fix the logout problem, I agree.

You can jump from 3 to 6 by pointing your mouse cursor at the top right corner of the POL screen. You will see "Logout" appear. Click it. The next thing you'll have to do is "Exit Viewer". I've found no better alternatives yet.
