Here's an update for people who are interested about Mr. Valient's current condition:
- Mr. Valient is a level 50 Red Mage, but not many interesting things have happened since the last journal so that's why there haven't been many entries.
- Mr. Valient also obtained his Red Mage AF2 equipment (Level 52 boots) but he completely soloed it in under two hours and writing about it would have made a very, very vapid journal.
- Mr. Valient has Refresh (Level 41 Red Mage-only spell that regenerates MP over time). Special thanks goes to Nodachi and Donnovan for helping Mr. Valient raise money to buy it.
- Mr. Valient got a part time job as a Bard. It's now level 31, and very useful unlike his crimson counterpart.
In response to Vissione's question (sorry I didn't reply earlier):
I don't really play a Dark Knight, but my opinion on them is that they're not completely useless. However, they're interchangeable with other jobs. Jobs like Samurai and Dragoon are also massive damage dealers, so finding a PT might get a little competitive sometimes. I've also heard from people who play DRKs that finding a PT is pretty difficult. On top on that, the DRK's two hour ability is one of the most useless one ever (stealing HP will help you, but it won't help the PT at all), but when you think about it, the DRG's two hour ability is somewhat useless too, since your dragon can die and then you'll have nothing to fall back on if you get in trouble. The SAM's two hour ability is only useful if he has 300 TP stored up. But choosing to be what you want is all up to you, really. Useless or not, every job still serves its purpose and as long as they get the job done, usefulness shouldn't make much of a difference.
Moving on to the journal, due to the lack of exciting adventures, I decided to write about something that happened a long time ago. It'll be split up into two segments once again, because it went over the 10,000 character limit. It's a blast from the past, way back ten levels ago when Mr. Valient and his other Linkshell members grouped together in order to earn Rank 4.
Lady Itazura, the linkshell holder of StarBright, and Mr. Valient ran toward the Tower of Delkfutt by going through the Quifim cave. Once there they would meet up with Comrade Donnovan, and the three would climb to the top of the tower as instructed by the slave driver who gave them their mission objective.

Moving on, the trio barged into the first floor of Delkfutt Tower. Mr. Valient and Comrade Donnovan was level 40, and Lady Itazura was 37. Those statistics don't have any significance to their crusade as of now, but they will later.

For you see, as we went higher up the tower the monsters became stronger. Stronger to the point where they became hostile to anybody below level 40. Here's a Goblin that took a liking towards Lady Itazura. Comrade Donnovan and Mr. Valient took a liking towards pounding it to death.

Once again, Mr. Valient had to use Sneak, the magic spell that he uses so often that if it could hire a lawyer to sue Mr. Valient for magic abuse, it would most likely win.

Anyway, they went on mingling through the tower until they reached the third floor of Delkfutt (out of ten floors in total). Comrade Donnovan was the only one prepared with a map, but Mr. Valient ran in front thinking he could lead the group because he's such a goof.

Here's Comrade Donnovan warning Mr. Valient that there's a Magic Pot around the corner. Casting magic next to one of these guys will result in getting aggroed, much like how the Elemental monsters react to magic.

A few hours have gone by, and the crew had to stick to the wall like glue in order to stay out of the Giant's range of view, otherwise they would find themselves in a sticky situation.

Unfortunately the bats weren't fooled by the trio's clever adhesive-like plan, but it didn't make a big difference anyway. Silly bat, aggroing's for strong monsters.

After reaching the seventh or eighth floor, the gang encountered a floor full of Goblins, Bats, and Giants. Yet again, Mr. Valient had to call upon the powers of Sneak, as well as its alter ego Invisi. Soon Mr. Valient will have the whole magic family filing a case against him. Need a one-way ticket out of the continent, Mr. Valient? I hear Kazham is nice this time of year.

Dashing through the mob of monsters, the three found themselves one step away from the tenth floor, so they decided to stop and sniff the floor while healing before advancing any further.

At last, they reached the final floor for their mission. A ton of Giants were blocking the narrow corridor that led to an elevator the three needed to take in order to complete the mission.

The group sliced and diced half way through the hall when they confronted the Mimas, a Notorious Giant Monster. After contemplating what they should do, the trio finally decided to kill it and it dropped a level 39 two-handed axe.

Mr. Valient and company took another corridor that led to a dead end, but they stumbled upon a Treasure Chest which made their time spent worthwhile. Comrade Donnovan had a key but the Giants were very close so opening it would have been dangerous, if not fatal. If Mr. Valient didn't know better, he'd say the Giants were trying to steal the chest from Comrade Donnovan!

So the gang came to the conclusion that disposing of the Giants would be the best course of action to take. This is what the very common renkei Nucleate Heat looks like.

Now that the gang reclaimed what was rightfully theirs (it's obvious that they saw it first), Comrade Donnovan proceeded to open the chest and earned himself a one-handed axe. To the left of Mr. Valient is the rotting corpse of what could have been the owner of a brand new one-handed axe. Too bad, Mr. Giant. Maybe in your next life.

Anyhow, that detour diverted the groups attention away from their real objective which was to complete their mission. The first thing they had to do was kill a Giant and receive some keys to use the elevator. Another group was also doing this mission and hunting for the Giant, which created a little rivalry between the two parties.

However, a Magic Pot appeared out of the blue. Someone was casting magic too closely to one of them and it began picking everybody off one by one until only a level 60 Black Mage was left.

With some luck, the Magic Pot finally disappeared and the Black Mage began reviving the fallen one by one.

After everybody recovered, the two parties decided to form an alliance and kill the Giant so that everybody can get their key.

Once that was over, they took the elevator which led to a flight of stairs.

And down and down they went. People who get stairsick will hate this part of the mission.

And they finally got to the bottom.

After watching a few cutscenes, the group gathered in the main hall and tried to find the exit.

Eventually they found it after the alliance ran around in circles a few times. They probably would have found it sooner if they listened to Comrade Donnovan, but apparently nobody believed in his navigation skills, nor did they believe his claims about owning a map.

At last, here they are making their way out of Delkfutt Tower.

Everybody gave their final farewells at the entrance of Quifim in Port Jueno, and the alliance broke off.

After eight long hours, Mr. Valient earned Rank 4 which was accompanied by the same fanfare music that plays every time he goes up a rank.

Remember that two-handed axe Comrade Donnovan found during the mission? Here he is donning the massive weapon behind his back. Pretty impressive.

This picture has absolutely nothing to do with Mr. Valient's story.
