question about .dat swapping and model viewer

Lately I've been thinking about trying a couple .dat files I've seen around. Only problem is, since I've downloaded the model viewer, I haven't been able to pull up any of the .dat files in the game. I have my game installed on a D: drive, and the viewer keeps wanting to pull them from C:. I've tried updating the location under File - Original DAT Path, and File - Final Fantasy XI Folder. It still wants to look for the files on my C: drive. So I'm thinking that there's another way to set the location, but at the moment it's dissapointing because I can't update my character as I can't see what I'm doing with the files.

Do your paths look like this:
D:\FFXI\PlayOnlineXP\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\
D:\FFXI\PlayOnlineXP\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ROM3\

Are your backslashes right? Maybe there is a tiny litle error in the path.
To avoid that copy the path from the explorer dirctly into the modelviewer.

PS.: For example this would not work because the backslashes are wrong:
D:/FFXI/PlayOnlineXP/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/
