  • Problem hoping for help ;.;

    Hihi everyone, I was trying to learn .dating until I ran into a very very huge problem. This isn't .dat related really, but since it only happens with my FFXI Dat Collection folder I was hoping someone out there could help...

    Basically what happens is whenever I browse through my FFXI Dat Collection folder, after about 2-3 minutes I get a Windows error that asks me to send a report or not. Then after choosing either, it doesn't matter my desktop freezes. So I have to Alt-Ctrl-Delete end task onthe folder, then the whole desktop seems to vanish and reappear, working fine again. This includes everything, bottom bar with Start, icons, clicking functions, everything except my other programs and the Background of my desktop.

    This whole problem ONLY happens when I open and go through my collection folder... but this didn't start until sometime long after I got the folder...

    Anyway does anyone know why this is happening and someway to fix it, please? ;.;

    Virus? o.O

    I'm not sure, but i know definatly when you ctrl-alt-del it restarted EXPLORER.exe which is the mainframe of windows. Explorer.exe holds everything that appears on your screen pretty much except programs and games. Anyhoo, i'm not really sure of the problem but maybe you should delete the Dat Collection folder and re-download it. This may work and it may not, but i have a feeling maybe you have a trojan or spyware... computers are wierd and they tend to do wierd stuff when you have trojans and viruses.

      Oh yeah I knew I forgot something... here's a list of what I've tried so far...

      ~Deleting and reextracting the Folder
      ~Deleting and Extracting in a different location
      ~Running Norton and letting that run it's course
      ~Running Spyware Docter and deleting the Trojans manually
      ~Rescanning and showing no remaining Trojans

      That's all I can think of at the moment ;.;
