Going for Lu Shangs, but some questions...

First off I'm a lvl 52 Fisherman, i've already started the quest but 0 fish turned in. I was wondering, what do you guys do to get lu shangs? Do you have a mule in sandy and u just send the fish to the mule and have the mule turn in the fish, then mail the lu shangs to your main? Or what?

lol sorry for caps, but you get a title and fame and some ppl say a hidden fishing skill, so do it on the char that is your main.
if you are gonna fish in rabao, you can send your carp to a mule or clean your inventory and just fill it with around 40 stacks at a time to turn in, just set hp in port sandy, fish in rabao, run out and die, warp back to sandy, hand in carp, get a tele altepa.
this is a long road, around 2 or 3 months if you plan on fishing them all your self.

I have a mule in bastok so i can buy cornettes (when we get to 2nd place) so i can send them to my main in windy to turn in for windy fame . I'll fill up his mog with moat and whenever i'm in sandy send them to my main. thx

You get a testimony which is Ex and is said to enhance your fishing skill. So, you do NOT want to turn in the fish with any other character than the one you plan to fish with.

I'm in the midst of LuShang Quest myself. I fish until my mog is full (say about 50 stacks or so) than I fish until my inventory is about 1/2 full of carp and then I send them all off to a mule. I repeat until all mules are full.

A lot of this appears to be fishing so that you don't lose your sanity. My first turn in was only 500 carp and it seemed like a let down. "Oh, I have ALL this carp! Let me go turn them in! ... Oh, only 1/20th done..." So, I only do turn-ins when I have around 1500 carp or so. It is much more gratifying.

And you will have max SanDoria fame WAY before you reach 10000 carp.

I'm 54 fishing and have been fishing up Moats and Golds in Windurst Waters (a little more skill never hurt). I wouldn't recommend that though. I don't know what happened, but the rate of catches has dropped steeply since last week. This is during any moon phase... so I'm wondering what happened.

I have yet to start on that quest, but I might not do it until way later on because carp=money for me right now. It'll be quite tedious!

Lu Shang's Fishing Rod is one of the longest and most tedious quests in the entire game. Took me 41 days to complete mine, but it was worth it.

Yeh it's definatly worth it, people always talk about how much it costs and that it takes a long time to make up the 3mil gil and all but people never think about how easy it is to sell if you decide to quit so your not ever losing anything by getting it.

Yup this quest is driving me nuts, it's freaking sooooooooooo loooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg. Lately I havn't had the time to play but it took me 3 months and 6 hours a day (3 hours early, 3 hours before bed) to get as far as I am. 1300 moats left and I can't wait to get it done. I think completing this tedious quest is a bigger reward in itself then the lu shang rod lol. Hmm to think I could be 3million gil richer if I sold them in the AH =).

I can honestly say that after completing the quest once I never want to see another moat carp ever again unless it's the guild fish of the day.

w00t turned my first moat in the other day! 1 of my mules is half full of moats atm all self caught.

the thing i am really happy about is that you get 100gil per each one!!!! it totally pays off the ingrede's for making paste or even buying them cause i catch at least 1 gold carp per stack being that i'm 54 fishing. So i pay off the bait and actually make money from doing this quest, i get fame10 in sandoria, i get lu shangs, is there any better quest out there =)

All quests are better than this one =P Once you hit 5k moats and realize you have another 5k to go, you WILL want to shoot both of the brothers. It's gauranteed, it should be written on the FFXI box.

lol, but in the end i get 1mil gil from all the moats, which pays of buying and/or making the bait and then i get lu shangs that will make me much more richer in the end :D
