Darksteel Ingot

Ok here's the deal, I got killed by the Forger for the SAM quest, and now I have to trade a Darksteel Ingot to get the item again. The real problem is, I don't have enough money to dish it out on a 15k Darksteel Ingot, what I want to do is to get a high lvl Blacksmith to synth it for me, so I figured Darksteel Ore+ 3 Iron Ore + Fire Crystal = Darksteel Ingot. But recently I heard about an easier and cheaper recipe, Quadav Backplate + Lightning Crystal = Darksteel Ore.

Is this true? if it is what lvl would I need to synth it?

for the sam quest you dont need a darksteel ingot you need a piece of darksteel ore. My friend bit it as well and I gave him a piece of darksteel i mined. We got sam together after that.

you can also harvest darksteel ore through gardening....not sure how but i'm sure you can find it in the threads somewhere...

Oh well, thanks for the info guys. Still I'm curious if Quadav Backplate + Lightning Crystal works (I wrote Darksteel Ore at the end of my first post, I meant Ingot), it would be a VERY good money maker.

According to Allakhazam it's a lvl 55 Smithing recipe.

You only rarely get darksteel from quadav backplates. Iron ingots are much, much more common. Maybe I'll get more darksteel than anything else when I'm at 100 Blacksmithing. It's nice to dream sometimes.

it's an HQ Desynth which means you can spend 10k on backplates and not get one.
