    I have two questions:

    1. How do I make a macro to use my hatchet to log? I been doing it the old fashioned way and being beaten to nearly every tree, till someone told me last night I can make a macro, but wouldn't tell me how

    2. This equipment (clothes) I see in the AH that improves havesting and mining results - does it apply to logging also?

    Thanks for any help!

The Field Gear will help you while logging. Get some as soon as possible. Well worth it.

As for the macro I believe the command line is...

    /item "Hatchet" <t>

.... with the logging point targetted.

    Hope this helps.

Go and look at the equipment again if it says it helps logging than it does. If doesn't say it helps logging than it doesnt

No, I can't see any that says it improves logging results, only mining and harvesting, which is why I was in some doubt and asked here.

Anyways I bought some boots and gloves now, so we'll see if I have any better "luck". Altho by luck I'm not sure what improvements to expect. Less hatchet breakages? Better wood? More wood?

There are 4 pieces of field gear.

Field tunica (body) affects mining, logging, harvesting.
Field gloves (hands) affect mining and logging.
Field hose (legs) affect logging and harvesting.
Field boots (feet) affect mining and harvesting.

          * notes:

          - mining refers to both mining with pickaxes for metal ores (Gusgen, Palborough, Zeruhn, Yughott, Ifrit's) as well as excavation for bone items (Tahrongi, Shakrami, Korroloka)

          - logging refers to lumberjacking with a hatchet (Ghelsba Outpost, East Ronfaure, Buburimu Peninsula, Jugner Forest, Yutungha Jungle, Yhoator Jungle)

          - harvesting refers to harvesting for food with a sickle (West Sarutabaruta, Giddeus, Pashhow Marshlands.. supposedly Yutungha after a rainstorm as well, though I've never seen a harvesting point appear there personally).

So depending on which activity you are doing, you only need 3 of the 4 pieces.

Using the field equipment seems to improve your item quality and success rate, though I can't say that it affects tool breakage at all.

This is the macro I use:

            /targetnpc
            /item "Hatchet" <t>

Does having your woodcraft skill up make logging better?

I've heard rumours that it improves the actual results (like field gear), but I'm not sure about that - I started logging at 45 woodworking, and have not brought the skill up since. However... it does help my profit a lot to synth logs into lumber (except for those that are worth less than the cost of the wind crystals), especially when I get HQ synths. ^^ So, yes, I'd say it does increase profits from logging, but I don't know if it does so directly.
