There should be a third option for neither as I don't believe either of those two could moderate these forums with impartiality.

What was the criteria for choice out of interest? A vitriolic troll or someone who hasn't played FFXI in over 5-6 years. While I appreciate the latter is less and less important now due to the forums turning more into an off-topic MLP/blog the former just has me scratching my head.

Anyway, suffice to say either of them are made a mod I'll walk away from these forums, which will no doubt have some people cheering anyway I know.

I'm glad he does cuz many of the people on here can't get to wiki when at work because of internet locks. If I'm at home, I'll go to wiki myself before posing a question on these forums. But when I'm at work, I don't have the freedom to do that.

Exactly. I've never personally had a job that lets me sit around and stare at the internet all day and I don't know if I would want one that allowed it, but I'm well-aware of that being the circumstance for others.

I mean, I could take the chance and assume they don't have the filter and if they don't and they're new to the game, then they may very well be spending more time away from working looking up acronyms and shit when someone could have put it all to them in plain English and saved them some time with a direct answer.

I still link my sources most of the time anyway. This way, when they get home, they know where to look for that link and go right to the wiki for more info. So I guess Mhurron faults me for being informative? Even J9 is getting better at being informative than he is.

The "Post a link to the wiki/answer nothing" approach I just find a tad cold and uninviting.

Part of the role of a moderator is to make people feel welcome and want them to keep coming here, being informative is a great way of doing that. TGM did that and while I'm certainly no Feba fan, I think he would be more capable of that than Mhurron. Mhurron certainly has more contemporary knowledge of FFXI than Feba does, but he won't make the effort except in very specific circles from what I've seen.

If you go out to buy a video game and needed help making a choice, would you want the friendly person that give you the basic rundown and info that would enhance your experience or the guy that knows a lot, but only helps those he likes and only on games he cares about?

So that's my thinking on this. Again, I'm not a fan of the choices to start with, but just weighing what I know of the two people from interaction and observation, I find Feba more capable and personable.

And that probably seems really strange to hear coming from me. Next thing you know I'll be giving Murphie a compliment or something.
