  • Captcha?

Do we have one of these in order to register? Might prevent some of these bot posts if we don't. Just a thought. Seems we've been overrun with them lately.

    Re: Captcha?

Can't even be sure if they're bots.

Sweatshops will have people mass-posting anyway.

      Re: Captcha?

There's a way to get around CAPTCHA. It's not an instantaneous thing but let me explain the process.

Company A is a marketing company and their expertise is spam botting. They need to get around CAPTCHA on registrations that are now being used in many forums. To do this, they devise a solution, using live people to get around the whole CAPTCHA issue.

Their bot registers at Forum XYZ. The CAPTCHA appears and the bot automagically copies this into a database. Company A runs a porn site. They provide "free" porn material. The only thing is you need to figure out the CAPTCHA. The very same CAPTCHA that their bot is trying to figure out. Once you crack this and your porn download begins, this information is transmitted back to their database and their bot weill receive a signal to pull this up and plug it into the forum CAPTCHA. Voila! CAPTCHA cracked. Eventually, enough information is collected over several months that they now can create an algorithm that will more efficiently crack CAPTCHA.

I think I remember someone telling me of a CAPTCHA in Klingon. For some reason, I was not surprised.

4chan had those for awhile. I think they took reCaptcha, and then when people were cracking it easy enough (CAPTCHAs aren't hard to break; I have a script that fills them on for me on a couple sites, takes very little time and has probably upwards of %70 accuracy, which works even better when it's doing everything automatically anyway. faster than I could do it, even when it's wrong), they changed their setting for higher difficulty, which meant plenty of "this isn't even written with an alphabet.".

Of course, 4chan responded by labeling all of these blobs as 'nigger'.
