Re: Looking for input on site changes
Surprisingly, the quantcast thing was the first thing I was able to figure out how to fix. Logged in users should no longers get it. Anyone confirm?

Re: Looking for input on site changes
That's exactly what I'm working on right nowOriginally posted by TheGrandMom View PostSomething I would like to see changed is when a post is put to the front page for news, the person's avatar is not. The person's name is fine so they get credit or whatever but the avatar is distracting. Look at the home page right now and at the first news post. It's about the event "Get all dolled up..." and you see Lilith's avatar which leads me to believe its related to the news post but its not.

Re: Looking for input on site changes
Shotgun post
I'd heard of the quantserve thing before. It doesn't give me any trouble, but I don't see any reason that logged in users who don't see ads should have to run this ad tracking script/cookie/thing. I'll see if I can find it in the code and try to find out more about it. There may be a perfectly good reason I shouldn't mess with it that I'm not aware of.
I don't think the RPG software is still on the server. If it is and it's just disabled I could reenable it np, if not then I can't bring it back. I still have control panels for the RPG but there are no options in them, which sounds like missing files to me.
Trimming the moderator list is already happening.
I had gotten frustrated with and stopped using that new post feature so long ago I forgot it was still borked. I'll see if I can debug it.
New smileys are a great idea. I'll get to work on it. Please post any specific types you would like to see.
I never really use the front page either and that seems wrong to me, which is why I wanted to make it more relevant somehow. We seem to be pretty positive on that idea on average, so let's go ahead with it. Any volunteers to be newshounds?
Thanks all for the input, keep it coming.

Re: Looking for input on site changes
This x100.Originally posted by Ziero View PostYa know what I'd like to see fixed. That problem of when you click on "View first unread post" it instead send you to the middle of a page that you not only read before, but is no where near the first new post! If I wanted to go to page 4 of a 16 page topic after reading 15 pages of it, I'd click on page 4! D=<
I'm sure this isn't too incredibly difficult to remedy , but it will require: Knowledge of PHP and access to the forums source code. Assuming both of those, if there isn't already a way to do it inside the Admin CP, there's probably about 1 line of code somewhere that can be changed to prevent this from happening.
Other than that, DiV is the first website I load up (my homepage) and I check frequently; I don't have many gripes with the site as is.

Re: Looking for input on site changes
Moderation is good in moderation, and I think we are at that point.
More smileys are full of win.
New podcast notifications from other fan sites added to the front page news feed would be cool.

Re: Looking for input on site changes
vBulletin is an awesome platform. You guys have it good in here.
If I may I think what Taskmage meant about integrating with other ffxi sites means that this site would be more (i say more, because you guys already do alot) of a central hub of information about ffxi related news/podcasts/media/updates/blogs/etc. I think you already have a headlines column in the home page which you can use to drive this objective.
good luck! I really like it here.

Just please god do NOT change whatever it is that enables me to bypass WEBSENSE filtering at work to access this site... it's the only one I can access that isn't filtered out of my reach as Video Games
