Don't you think when people get the FFXI you guys should add the name of a persons character

... because all the stats you show there... your wanting to know the persons character at least put the name so you can find the person faster...

And People are starting to put there profile on there sig which to me is making no sense (no offense to the people that do that) its the same thing just more colorful is you ask me... just put the name of the character or "characters" on the profile and you save alot of space on your sig and get to put nice pictures on them

No offense but.... what is the point in showing all your characters in your sig. Its not like any one cares what level you are or what LS you are in .

It is easyer to look at someone's sig and go, "OH that's so-and so that I PT'ed with yesterday, I'll give him a shout." It also saves time in picking out parties with people who are the same level as you.

*sigh* Sorry, I am tired ;.; I am working 12 hours today, and only got 2 hours of sleep last night... I'm a little high strung today...

But I still can't think, so maybe someone else can point out more... I'm sure there are some good ideas why we do it, because 'brigging rights' is sooo not one of them... It is true, being a 65 MNK /65 WAR / 65 WHM /65 BLM only meens you have _NO_ life...

To an extent it's kinda like why people spend hours (or minutes) making really neato gfx for their sigs, they just wanna... I'm still working on mine, it's soooo ghetto right now, a ruff draft was posted... *shrug* Need a better gfx card first thou, my screen shots are really bad quality, I got a GeForce 2 TI something... 64 megs of ram, but that does not make it suck less :p

Well... I don't know ^_^;;; if you got three characters just put it on the person yours using its not like your going to use three of them at once just put one in the profile and thats it...

I have been thinking about that.....

Well, I have been thinking about a SEPERATE system for adding characters and linkshells along with server, and I have been thinking about the PHP programming for quite awhile. Unfortunately, this is PiNG's site and what I can do is somewhat limited (in terms of (re-)programming a module) despite the fact that I can already do a lot.

Basically my idea is that, we will have all those whom are FFXI Importers be allowed to add their own character information and update it, along with their Linkshell information. Then this information will be compiled on to a list of everyone at which server, with which linkshell, etc. I know how to program it and can easily do it, though it will take awhile and will require some privileges that even I wouldn't ask for from PiNG.

I'll probably program it on my own webserver and then present it to PiNG when I feel confident about it. However, in the mean time, I am open to ideas as to what fields should be present on the "character sheet".

Because I think putting Name of character next to the profile is a big deal... I think it saves up space for your sig

You also have the issue of people having multiple characters.... I was thinking to get two birds with one stone by allowing people to create multiple character listings so that it may be added to a directory function, instead of our current archaic listings.

I will consider the character background story info section in to the design. I am currently working on layout the foundation and making sure that what I build will be able to interface with the rest of the site.... the most probamatic part about this project is that I am virtually working blind as to user login, keeping track of which character belong to which user.

However, I think I am making fairly good progress. In the mean time, I request any suggestions on the fields that should be present in a user-character and directory listing.
