Whats the effect of Moghancements?

I know some decrease the EXP you lose when you die and go back to homepoint but Im talking about the one that increase elemental power. Some have an elemental icon at the bottom with a: <STRG:1> sign. What does that mean? Does it mean that I have more chances in synthesis with that element, that my elemental magic is stronger or does it mean that I have better defense? Does anybody know, for sure, how this bonus works?

moghancement: fire reduces the chance of losing materials when synthesis fails with a fire crystal, and so forth

<STRG:1> means you get one space in "Storage".
I think all the furniture has at least 1, so you will get the mog slot back in your storage menu.

I thought a fire icon with STRG meant something like: Strenghten fire.
