  • hm.....Music .bgw

Hmmm been lookin around inside my FFXI folder, found the music files, they're .bgw. Anyone know a player / codec that can decode that? Looked around a bit and no luck......I know the JP have something.

    Anyone?

BGW is a proprietary file format...
    no legal encoders/decoders/parsers exist...

    buy the soundtrack...

Not entirely sure where you'd find it, but there's a program called FFXI Tool or somthing along those lines that just peers into the data files for FFXI and lets you check out the weapons listings, maps, bgm, and 3d models if you can figure out the japanese menus. It's just an observer and doesn't let you change anything, so I think it's perfectly legit. However yeah, I would also endorse buying the soundtrack if you like the music alot.

Try this. It is a Winamp plugin that plays the .bgw and the .spw files.

interesting o-O hmm too bad that plugin only works with winamp 2.xx .... the readme file says it's not working with winamp 3 yet.

Do yourself a favour and download winamp 2.xx then It's not half as bloated as v3.

WOW! There is definitely some stuff in there that wasn't on either the original or the Zilart soundtrack. We should make a "bootleg" album

Oh, and you can listen to the POL choons too, not that 90% of them are worth it...

Is there a Japanese site that matches the ones not on the soundtracks with specific events or places? Would be nice to have names for them
