  • It finally happened - THQ is gone

It was only a matter of time.

The Break Up - Bankrupt THQ's Assets Sold At Auction - Forbes

They won't be missed. I hope someone esle has picked up the Metro license though, I'd hate to see the sequel get canned as a result of this... but THQ just hasn't put out a good game in forever.

EDIT: Okay, so it's Chapter 11 which means they're restructuring, not gone entirely (which would have meant no South Park: Stick of Truth OR Metro, and that would suck).

With Relic out of their hands, we might actually get a Dawn of War or Company of Heroes game that doesn't come with a ton of obnoxious DRM and requires constant updating.

Re: It finally happened - THQ is gone

I'm mystified as to how Homefront was purchased as an IP and Darksiders was not.

Deep Silver making off with Saint's Row wasn't bad, though, and WWE would be in better hands with 2k (just get Syn Sophia -formerly AKI- on that).

Also, funny how those online passes didn't save THQ or jobs. I can't honestly say I'll miss the company as I had a rather low affinity for them to start with. I do feel a little bad for Vigil, though, because I don't really see what went wrong with Darksiders or why it didn't catch on. You'd think a game with the action of God of War and the adventure of Zelda would be a fairly big hit.

Darkstriders did do reasonably well here, that kind of game tends to do a lot better in the UK or Japan then the US.

From how my friend talks about it, I can only assume it's because it lacks a soul.

From what I understand, DS1 was crappy but 2 was much better - just didn't sell well enough.

THQ has never been all that good, but they had a number of IPs that as BBQ pointed out, are probably better off in the hands of others.
