This didn't seem to come up last week, but it turns out Pokemon BW2 has a hard mode. Good to see some of the criticisms of BW being a pushover are being adressed.

Still don't like the removal of the 2nd pad, primarily because I hated playing games like Metroid Prime Hunters using the stylus.

Even so, that's a damned nice new model they have there. No word on how much longer the new battery lasts?

A circle pad pro will be made for the XL as well it seems, that was just confirmed on various sites.

So I was reading a review on the 3DS XL on Joystiq and one of the commenters mentioned that if you open up a 3DS you'd see there's literally no place to put an additional circle pad. ifixit.com has a full 3DS teardown that pretty much confirms it. The circle pad goes all the way to the back of the device (the circuit board has a hole in it for the pad), and the entire right half of the 3DS is taken up by the battery. The battery can't possibly go anywhere else either, since the middle has the cartridge slot. Not to mention the Circle Pad Pro adds a second pair of shoulder buttons (didn't know that) so you'd need to make the 3DS fatter too to add those.

Yeah, this is why Nintendo is wise to keep the existing design lean. It keeps the original form factor, but allows Nintendo to layer on a proper ergonomic design for dual analog where needed. If people got what they thought they wanted we'd have the largest handheld brick since the Turbo Xpress.

Yes, Vita has dual analog, but without the ergonomic design of a dual shock layered on, it does become awkward and uncomfortable over time. Many games even ignore the second stick for this reason and use the touch screen instead because it's more cozy.
