Meet the happy zombie-hunting family of Lollipop Chainsaw -Destructoid

Can't find a link to the new YouTube video, but given the language and the potential reaction you'll have, it's better you don't watch it at work so you don't have to explain why you'll have a stupid grin on your face afterward.

You see? If this was made by Koei/ Warriors Orochi 3 team, her sisters would have been playable too (using Juliet's moves but still they would be playable). This action thing doesn't seem to offer much beyond extra clothes for Juliet. The only extra playable "characters" are probably the one or two cosplay costumes that look like a different person (I think they include their own VA too when using those character costumes). But more characters > more costumes.

Does this have a lot of missions like Warriors Orochi 3? The gameplay content seems small and brief.

And the gameplay would be repetitive as hell. No thank you.

It would feel less repetitive than using the exact same person each time you play it.

You know, many things, including popular shooters uses skinswap despite the fact anyone can use any weapon and do the same moves/animations, but they don't complain about that. And different character skins is much more than "cosmetic", because it's a totally different identity compared to someone just dressed differently, also it would broaden their audience and people would have more favorites to choose from!

That's one reason why Warriors Orochi and similiar things are so great because there's so much more variety than just 1 character.

Why are we trying to make Lollipop Chainsaw be more like a bad game again?

To bring it down to J9's level, I suppose.

All I know is its the only game with zombies in it that I've cared about for a while. And now it had Cordelia Starling in it.

nuuuu! More playable characters wouldn't hurt it, it would actually get more fans and replay value too! Bayonetta definitely benefitted from Jeanne being playable even though they have same moves, they are different person! So more people to choose from, more different types of playthrough experiences and more favorites to choose from?

Why do you think fighting games are popular, if it was just 1 or 2 characters, it would be boring faster. The same applies to action, adventure, etc.

Shouldn't you really be squeeing and mewing over the announcement of Senran Kagura Burst or something? Even though you'll never play it or own a 3DS?

I am just making my point about more playable characters and more variety of playable characters can add more fun and ways to experience the gameplay through different types of people to choose from for the entire gameplay.
It's one of the reasons why Super Mario 2 Mario Madness is still the best Mario game ever made, because it had 4 playable characters that have their own identity. It would have been tame if it was just Mario or just them and Luigi, or just those two and Princess Peach, multiple unique characters is better than 1. And even if they all played exactly the same in SMB2 (which they don't) that doesn't reduce the value of each character being available as a playable option!

Ya you can argue that SMB3 might be better but those other ones have too few playable characters or not enough playable characters.

And 3DS does not interest me so I don't really talk much about 3DS exclusives. But Senran Kagura 1 and Burst, ya, they offer a better example of what Lollipop Chainsaw should be doing with its characters instead of only featuring Juliet as playable (Senran Kagura having 5 playable characters.)

Strider 2 also benefitted from more choices. It was just 1 more character (Hien), but 2 characters is better than 1 character, 3 characters is better than 2 characters, 4 playable characters is better than 3 characters, and so on.

I totally understand what j9 is saying. The Portals, Deus Exes, Bastion, Okami, all the Zelda games, Mario Galaxy, all the Metroid games, what do they have in common? The only let you play one character and no doubt that is why these are some of the worst games of all time.

---------- Post added at 02:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:49 PM ----------

On a different note, it struck me that in the context of all the other completely gratuitous stuff in this game, phrases like "wear our vaginas proudly" and "fuck me" used by a hot chick to express incredulity seemed totally normal and not a thing. It makes me wonder if, like Bayonetta, Lollipop Chainsaw might march so far out into exploitative sexist territory that it somehow loops around to being vaguely feminist.

It wouldn't surprise me at all, given No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned had managed to have some manner of commentary beneath all thier extreme violence, sex and pop culture references.

I like the part where he mentioned that when you activate your full meter it cues up Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey" for background music.

                            Very, very appropriate.

Can't wait to pick it up.

A fan service game that actually plays more like a game and less like a fan service? I'm impressed, especially given the level of "quality" fan service games usually end up at, when produced by Japanese developers (like a friend would say, just buy a damn porn movie already)

There's tons of fanservice, it's just equal parts pop culture references and panty shots, you have an entire wardrobe of anime and movie costumes like:

                                Ash Williams (Evil Dead)
                                Foxy Cleopatra (Austin Powers)
Bettie Page (commonly misidentified as Katy Perry by kids)
                                Saeko (High Schooof the Dead)
Goth Girl (just a goth look, I guess)

And tons more, the Ash and Jimmy Urine costumes were pre-order bonuses, every other costume from Japan's premium edition made it in the standard edition at no extra cost in the US version.

Having a blast with it so far, it certainly has a compulsive score/time attack slant to it. The first minigame was hysterical - get over 100 points in under three minutes by decapitating basketball zombies (some go on defense to block three pointers).
