I for one would have jumped at the chance to play a Nordic themed FF. The fact they sent screens from FFxii and SE said they didn't look FF enough... man... that's funny (in a sad way). And faxing code? Yikes. Such a mess you almost wonder if it's true. Should they go the route of Silicon Knights vs Unreal, I hope they have documentation.

I read this on the main forums of FFXIV, and all I had to say was "yeah......"

sorry but GRIN was trying to push itself to hard on SE and SE gave them the boot, now they trash talk SE, really that is sad and childish.

They wanted to "revolutionize" Final Fantasy.... sorry but they need to leave FF alone.

Sounds like SE backed out of what could have been a bad investment. This happens all the time in a lot of businesses. You can't exactly get mad at someone investing money in you for backing out when they see they might not be getting what they paid for.

I mean, SE is keeping Obsidian going for Dungeon Siege III. Apparently Obsidian is able to offset their flaws by making games that sell reasonably well. They're even tapping n-Space's new game for 3DS - Heroes of Ruin - and not everything n-Space cranks out is gold, but it sells.

Sounds to me like SE was just too Japanese to come out and say "This is terrible, please stop wasting our time with this". So instead they're all passive-aggressive and waste everyone's time and money.

Interesting viewpoints. I only had to go by what was presented in the Joystiq blurb. It's most likely correct that they are using this to get some press.. any press.

I dont place alot of merit in GRIN, so who knows if that is true or not.

but like someone in the other forums pointed out, Japan as a whole still uses faxes a lot, and that could have been just some miscommunication and or a new intern or something not knowing what he was doing. GRIN seems to just be taking that out of context and showing it at face value.

I'm sorry, but anyone who asks for source code via fax is utterly insane. No one should possibly be able to make that sort of a mistake short of severe incompetence, the kind that usually ends behind a woodshed with a shotgun.

This x 9000. It was clear SE was doing the whole "we don't want to tell you we don't want you talking to us anymore, so we're just going to shit all over your work until you leave us alone" Japanese custom. Srsly.

Naw, i can see this happening though... the developers ask the secretary to contact GRIN to send them the code and because he/she has no knowledge of whatever "code" is they ask for it via fax.

Did GRIN ever fax them any code though? cos that would be awesome to check out.
