Yeah broken games suck, sometimes we miss the little cracks or what not, and sometimes games just don't work for some odd reason *shrugs* but as long as they are withing the 30day defective warranty and you have the receipt, we dont have a problem taking it back, sometimes we will work with people who don't have the receipt if we remember then from that day.

I still shop there, when I have money. The sticker thing annoys me, but it doesn't bother me so much that I feel like raising a huge stink over it. I was pissed when they sold me a broken game - and you really couldn't see the scratch in it that was on the edge - I didn't even notice it until a store which repairs games pointed it out to me. When I called to complain, they said they don't normally accept used games for return, but because of the circumstances they'd give me a full refund.

So I have no major beefs with them. I don't enjoy buying used games and the fact that it generally means that the developer isn't getting jackshit from my purchase, but I also know that trying to get a game for an old system generally means that I have to buy used. I tend to not do it that often. But it did piss me off that one of the few times I did it, I was sold a bum game.

But they don't bother me as much as say, Burger King. Everyone who works at Burger King is an idiot and no matter how many times I say I want a Dr. Pepper with no ice, they always give me ice anyway.

Nobody asked for an obvious solution. We're here for a discussion.

To do that would make sense. I don't give money to stores I don't like, I don't buy games from publishers I don't like. Its actually really, really easy.

There is this particular game store I don't buy from. I have friends that work there. There's two reasons - the owner is an asshole - kind of bad for business for you to talk shit about your customers right behind their back where they'll hear it and then act like you didn't.

Second reason, they have mob debts. Found that out from a former employee. Big guy named Tony would show up every couple of weeks for some reason, he didn't seem to work there, but seemed to have some kind of business with that store's owner that didn't pertain to games. Turns out the owner was in a bit of debt to this guy. Part of it was drugs, too, the owner was a bit of a coke-head.

So yeah, with those facts in mind, I tell people to avoid business there. Being an asshole was enough, but the drug/mob ties thing sort of sealed it.

I still call BS, and say you are blowing it out of proportion.

I will admit even my store ever so often might not look 100% You know what though, you go work there and have the rows of games you neatly placed screwed up by kids 5 seconds after you did it, then you have to do it again, for it to only last another minute, and on top of that help the customers, and gut/pickup all the games that are traded in. Then come back to me.

Very easy for the customer to exploit that one. Just switch around the games and "Oh, I found this on the $4.99 shelf."

Gee, Bulletstorm used for $4.99 - wouldn't sound a tad off now, would it?

Flat rate price for used games.

    Oh wait, you're serious.

Organize games by price, different price for each shelf.
Right, right - because alphabetizing the used section twice by $20 and up and under $20 isn't already time-consuming enough given customers just put games back wherever they want.

    In-store pricing index.
Not what the customer wants, trust me. They want to be able to see the game is there, see how much it is, not squint at a list. Not an eco-friendly option anyway.

Not to mention the index would never be consistent and have to be replaced weekly. Homefront has been so wildly unpopular that the used price is already $47.99 due to the sheer volume of trade-ins and returns. That game's gong to drop in its used value again before the month is out, most likely, to say nothing of the retail price probably being $30 by May.

But that's just one dud this year. Some of those DS games are going to change when 3DS is out, too, amoung other shifts within the system. We have the Super Guides in stores to serve the purpose of not only price-checking games, but seeing where games are located in our stores via Google Maps. Even that system is not accurate as it gets refreshed once a day.

    Asking an employee.
Right, I want to have to answer this question a million times a day, as if my voice isn't worn out ofter five to eight hours of speaking as it is. To say nothing of checking the system a zillion times. I'll save this courtesy for people calling the store or if the game is labeled in a confusing fashion.

    Shall I keep going?
Since your ideas are either laughable, waste employee/customer time or create headaches for employee/customers perhaps you should quit while you're ahead.

I've mentioned my idea before, a laminated copy of the box art laid on the wall with pricing and voucher slip beneath them - sort of like what some Toys R Us stores do or some of them used to - but that's a lot of paper wasted and all the sealed games and used game cases would then be behind the counter or in the back room. Were my idea to be executed in stores as they exist now, there wouldn't be much room to breathe in the back room and we'd probably lose the employee bathroom to it as well.

It sounds easy and perhaps if you're a low traffic store, it would be OK so long as you had someone to watch the front while someone attended to it in the backroom, but for a high traffic store with more space you may want to have two or three people keeping an eye on the floor.

Plus someone might steal the case if shrink-wrapped, thinking the game is actually in it. The way things are run at Gamestop being rather loss-preventive as it is, Gamestop doesn't use alarms for security devices other retailers have shipped in their games.

There are things people can still steal in Gamestop, but games are among the more difficult things to steal there. There are some used bins that actually contain games, but that varies from store to store and its usually old sports games and shit.

The fact is that Gamestop buys shoebox-sized stores and tend to only keep one or two people on shift if they can get away with it, so that greatly affects what the employees can do. If you can spare time to organize the DS or Wii or 360 used sections to double-alphabetize them by $20 and up and Under $20 its been a slow day and you're lucky if that organization holds for few days since people put things back where ever they feel like.

Actually I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. You and BBQ are the only ones who seem to be encountering these properly run stores, so I'd say regardless of whether or not the crappy ones are GS approved, the crappy stores are the norm.

Look you need to understand that what ever GS you go to, apparently is not the norm, and you need to complain to corporate about it, all the stores in my area (5 total) are clean, and keep all new games nice and safe behind a glass shelf (well the 360 and PS3 anyway) and the ones in the drawers are not stuff or crammed, they are placed neatly in order.

oh hell no... do you have any idea how much work that would be on our end?....good god.

Flat rate for used games..... no does not work that way

organize by price? uuumm no not when the price can and does change on a dayly basis

place the sticker under the game? Would be nice if the games went back in the same spots, we just rough alphabetize, not strick.... and not enough room to do that anyway.

There are machine now (touch screen) where you can scan a game and it will tell you the price and a few things about the game.
