Well, not much to say other than they're on PSN.
OK, maybe not. I liked both demos, its a shame Sega is going to put zero effort into marketing these two beyond the demos, especially when Square-Enix will push KH:BBS, which is being released right between the two of them.
I haven't played the first VC, but when I have some cash saved up for PS3 - which I'm hoping to get in the fall - I plan to get it with VC, FFXIII and MGS4 to start out.
What I did play of VC2 reminded me of Ring of Red, except that VC2 was actually good and didn't feel as tedious as RoR. Every character seems overly happy to be going to war, but then, I thought that about the Advance Wars characters, too.
Graphics were nice and I could almost swear the composer from FFXII was doing the music for this game, it just reeked of that orchestral style.
Phantasy Star Portable 2 is, well, same as the JP demo I played last year, but in English. Mercifully, only the CG cutscenes had voice overs this time, though. I think Japan would have appreciated if the characters in their version weren't fully voiced. At least Emilia is more tolerable this time, her Japanese counterpart made my ears bleed.
This version of the game also sports all the improvements Phantasy Star Zero had on the DS, including online multiplayer via Infrastructure mode and not just that Ad Hoc Party bullshit. There are some macroed chat options, but interestingly, there are also some context-sensitive options. You can rig it so when someone levels up your character just automatically congratulates them or thanks someone when they heal you. There are useful applications as well, but the annoying person is going to spam some phrase when they attack
And yeah, you can play online in the demo, but only as much as the single player mode would for Open Missions.
Rangers can now target and strafe like the other classes. This seems like something that should have been there and it was for PSO and PSZ, but not the PSU line til PS Portable 2. There's also an evasion roll and a defensive block, both of which are really helpful.
If you import a character, it will try to approximate what you character looked like from the previous game, so you'll have to adjust a bit to your liking. Whatever your fashions you had your characters garbed in at the time of transfer can be found in your inventory to equip later. So my space hippie is back in action
