I find your lack of Planescape disturbing.

Super Mario Brothers 3 also looks a little out of place.

20 is a hefty number of games to play through. I've probably gone through more than that easily but I doubt there are 20 I would really put on a top-list.

In no particular order:

Planescape: Torment
Most compelling story I've experienced, bar none.

Secret of Evermore
Solid game mechanics and some quality B-movie humor.

Chrono Trigger
Awesome game mechanics and a very interesting storyline. It feels as though you save the world because you want to, not because you're required to.

Baldur's Gate series
D&D on the PC at its finest.

Secret of Mana
Simplicity isn't always a bad thing. This game still gets to me emotionally so many years after its release.

Charles Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden
Some very interesting approaches to combat mechanics along with a terribly amusing plot.

I agree, 20 is a lot, I don't even think I've finished 20 RPGs in my life. I'll give my top 5 though:

1) Final Fantasy Tactics
2) Secret of Mana
3) Final Fantasy VI
4) Chrono Trigger
5) Grandia 2

As you can see, I lack WRPGs because I can never get immersed into them.

EDIT: Added Grandia 2 as my #5.

4) Lufia II
5) FFXI
6) FF Mystic Quest
7) Wild Arms III (I think)
8) FFCC: Crystal Bears or something

1) I dunno, to me it’s really hard to top FFIII (us). But that could be because it was the first RPG game that got me into RPGs. Also on top of that it’s a great game. Tons of characters, lots of magic…I wouldn’t be able to count how many times I’ve replayed it.

2) Secret of Mana is also a great game. There just something about getting every weapon and spell to max level. I enjoyed the battle system even though I rarely charged weapons that much. I rarely got to play 2 players on it but I liked how it had that option. I ONCE played 3 players I think, fun times. Was really depressed when Legend of Mana came out…

3) FFVII, Just a great game. Gave birth too many memorable characters that of which traveled to other games.

4) Lufia II I thought was pretty cool. Added some more in-depth puzzles to games. You had to think about how to open certain doors and what not. And I like the Ancient Cave.

5) FFXII I though was great considering some of the recent ones that came out. Especially since I almost had to play X-2 in hiding (because its…lack of ‘manliness’). I beat it to stick with the series but damn. XII brought NMs I can kill w/o competition, tough Hunts… kinda mixed FFXI with some of the old ones. I played once through, the second time i assigend each person a specific job oppose to filling up the board.

6) Wanted add this one in. 2nd RPG I ever played. Pretty basic and straight forward but I love it. And since you only had 2 people it was somewhat difficult.

7) I think I have the number correct. It’s the one with the check that carries 2 pistols, a sniper and a guy with a shot gun iirc. It’s on my list of games to replay…but haven’t got to it. it's been a while since i played it but i remember not being able to put it down

8) Crystal Bearers is one of the current games I’m playing and I’m actually quite impressed. It has it’s flaws but it’s got a decent story line and I’m addicted to getting the medals

Yes, I loved FFX but if you didn't that is your opinion and that is fine with me... I really loved that game!

Good to see Deus Ex made it in there. I wasn't sure if anyone else actually considered it a first-person perspective RPG. Damn fine game regardless of how you classify it.
