So I'm guessing Malacite has never heard of Extra Life or even the charities Penny Arcade is involved in. Marathons can be done many ways, some are actual marathons in which you sweat your ass off and get sponsored for that, but that doesn't have to be the only kind.

If its for a good cause I don't see the problem with it.

Weren't these also the guys that did the Super Mario Marathon a few months ago?
I wish them loads of fun, luck and donations. (I will donate a few bucks myself)

As for X-2, I kind of agree to skip that one, but also because I never liked the game myself either.

As for XI...
That title by itself is enough to fill up a full week with only the main content. (Excluding every single expansion)
However it depends on a few things, if it's one playing character it will be very hard to give viewers an impression of how the game is.
There have been some nice ideas writen down, however I do advise to have at least 3 characters played at the same time.
(6 would be best if you want to include some missions.)
Now I can imagine that that would be a bit hard to do from the place where the Marathon is held, but maybe, just maybe there's a few people crazy enough to help you out with that from their own homes.

Another thought would be to do BCNM/KSNM/ENM/ etc.

Not the ones everyone does for cash/gear but the ones people skip because of being difficult, below average gear drops, or low "Seals to Gil ratio" . I think those would be entertaining to watch.
