    Re: Prototype vs. Infamous

Agreed, I much rather have only the story change according to one's actions, while customizing the character left for the player to do. Heck, even grinding-based skill development is better than the Revan system.

Let's just hope they do a good job with it and that it doesn't feel as gimmicky as it does in other games.

But I'll wait for the reviews just in case.

      Re: Prototype vs. Infamous

The skills remain generally the same. Just the effect of them are different.

I.E., the lightning grenades. As Hero, the explosions are more powerful but are more concentrated, so as not to catch as many innocents in the blast. As Infamous, the grenade explosions are weaker, but the blast radius is slightly larger and lets off smaller explosions around the area that'll be more destructive to both your enemies and innocents.

Keep in mind Cole's not really completely evil. As Infamous, you're still trying to save the day...you just care less about those harmed along the way.

It's good to know the differences are more on the cosmetic side.

After seeing some of the latest gameplay trailers and info, Infamous is starting to look a lot better.

InFamous came out last week. I meant to buy it but it slipped my mind so I picked it up today with FF7:AC Complete. Gonna be picking up Prototype too when it comes out next week.

Infamous is addictive as hell. There's just so much to do it's hard to stop playing. I doubt Prototype will be able to stand up against this game in the long run.

Been playing it since Tuesday and I'm pretty sure I've died about 20x already LOL (OMG THE ENEMIES ARE UBER ACCURATE! XD). I like it so far and I've unlocked all of the powers except 1. Still looking forward to seeing what Prototype is bringing to the table. The only thing I really wish InFamous had was a Super Jump....It takes a long time to scale some of those buildings XD.

Edit 11:30 6/6/09>> Just Beat it. I liked the storyline and the gameplay.

Prototype feels a lot like inFamous. You're on an island filled with missions and side-missions. You earn points to upgrade your abilities. You can jump, glide, and climb your way through the city. You're trying to figure out what happened to you.

It's still a neat game. The trophies are a little lame.

Prototype is pretty good so far, I was just playing it for a bit and figured I'd get on and give my opinion. Activision made this game and OMFG IT PLAYS LIKE SPIDERMAN 2!!! Spidey 2 was one of my favorite games that I never owned. It has a few things that I wished were in InFamous but they weren't there:

Stat Tracker: To let you know how many bad guys as well as innocents that you've killed along with other random stats.

Super Jump + Upgrades: YES!!!! YES!!!! Makes gliding more fun.

It also has a bunch of random orbs that you can find for extra XP. (I'm pretty sure they had those orbs in Spiderman 2 except they were shaped like Spider logos.) Infamous has these orbs too but you don't get any XP for them.

The special effects that appear around Alex that look like veins remind me of Carnage, and there is even a power that kinda resembles Carnage's flexibility.

The only thing I didn't like about InFamous:

                      Infamous Powers Spoilers

So pretty much if you like InFamous you'll probably like Prototype as well.

I wouldn't really consider that a spoiler since everyone knows you get those abilities, but they're still great for zipping around the city. And especially nice when you get the upgrade that heals you while grinding.

Just beat Infamous last night as a good guy and the ending was certainly a nice twist. Sadly I'm missing a few stunts and shard though. And while I'm eager to go back and do it all again as a complete and total asshat (and I *will* be as much of an asshat as possible) I figured I'd wait until the Gamestop exclusive power gets added to PSN. Unless anyone has an extra code or anything

the only thing I hated about Infamous was always the "Counter-surveillance" type missions. Removing stupid red boxes off buildings without being able to blast them = crap.

Otherwise, the other missions were fun, some spying a la Metal Gear, except you can climb buildings and over the train rail stations to avoid being detected.

I'm pretty sure I still had quite a few shards left to collect as well as stunts XD, but I did get all the voice samples. I just think it would've been nice to get the zip grind and float earlier in the game, but when you get them they are a big help. I like how the grabbing physics work too, like when you make a jump you'll automatically adjust to objects near you so you can grab on to them.

I didn't have my Six Axis controller plugged in and I was using my PS2 controller like i always do, so when I got the lightning ability I couldn't hit a damn thing LOL! I ended up redoing that mission with the sixaxis.

I failed one of those a couple of times trying to track one of the guys with a package. I think my favorite mission was the hot air balloon one. I took 3 of them down with no problem, but the 4th one I couldn't seem to find a building high enough to make that jump lmao.

Oh that final Thunder ability is just fun. I can't wait to try that as a villain, standing up on top of a tall building with a generator or two and just rain hell on everyone down below. But yea, the counter surveillance quests were just annoying, easily the worst type of quests.

I was also impressed by how many ways you could use your electricity to recharge yourself. Like after you drained a generator or lamp post empty, you could zap it a few times to charge it up again so you could drain more energy for it. You could even zap fences or other metal structures and drain the energy from that. It was the little things like that, or killing people by standing in a puddle with them, that make this game great.

That is why I wish this game had a stat tracker to tell how many innocents you killed, because I'm pretty sure I accidently killed quite a few like that or them running in front of somebody I was shooting at XD.

And omfg I bought almost all the upgrades for the Lightning Rockets (can't think of the real name atm) and I didn't know they'd become seeking rockets if you shot something once they were in the air. I was testing it out after I beat the game and the draw distance is pretty far because they'd been flying about 5 seconds after I took the shot and they still all came back and hit the target.
