You know, for the money that company has on top of the XBL subscription fees you'd think by now that they'd have decent servers for games like Halo 3 and CoD4.

But no, Halo 3 continues to die from lag (especially in BTB) while Resistance and MGO suffer virtually none. SSBM has some seriously epic f'ing lag though (or it might have just been my friend's connection since I know his sucks and we were duoing)

I also don't care for the new "Xbox Experience" thing either, especially the Mii-toos. Though I am looking forward to Netflix capabilities.

Funny people wont pay for live but have no problem paying an mmo subscription or two or even 3 a month. I know my 3 years of Live still hasn't eclipsed S.E's yearly charge.

As for "Home" Will any of us actually use it much after the second month?

Ive notcied that PSN servers are often better than XBL which is odd since you need to pay for XBL, you think they could upkeep them a bit better.

Sony provides dedicated servers for all their games. They also allow third party publishers the option to do so for their own, and even provide hosting for some third-party titles. The PSN infrastructure does allow for peer-to-peer game hosting however, and generally speaking, most multi-platform games do not take advantage of the dedicated option. Quake Wars, UT3 and Battlefield: Bad Company are a couple that I can think of.

Microsoft's network is almost entirely peer-to-peer; I can't think of any games off the top of my head that use dedicated servers on Xbox Live but I'm sure there are a couple out there. I've never experienced any serious lag issues over XBL, but in comparing PSN to Xbox Live, it's not really surprising to find that you'd generally find a better latency experience on a PS3 dedicated game than a PS3 or XBL game that uses peer-to-peer hosting.

The problem with P2P is that allot of people just don't configure it right or set up the ports. The other issue is that ISP's are just not reliable.

You know what else is funny? People won't pay for air, but they have no problem paying for gasoline. I know I spend a heckuva lot less on compressed air than I do gasoline.

My ISP is extremely reliable. Of course I pay for a premium connection so it god damn better be. I don't have problems with Live or PSN from my ISP, its always on my end. Six computers on 24/7 and at least half of them constantly d/ling or u/ling shit is usually the culprit.

Let's just all shut up and pay for Oreos, k? It's worth it.

GDI, now I have to tell hubby to pick me up some Double Stuff Oreos and some whipped cream. Of course, I get about 5 oreos before they are gone with all the people in this house. ><

My ISP is extremely reliable. Of course I pay for a premium connection so it god damn better be. I don't have problems with Live or PSN from my ISP, its always on my end. Six computers on 24/7 and at least half of them constantly d/ling or u/ling shit is usually the culprit.

This past month and a half my ISP has been real sluggish at times and I would lose connection at the craziest hours. An to be honest I am not to sure why. I know nobody is stealing service from me and my service provider isn't owning up to the issue either.

It could be that everyone else is sucking the bandwidth but thats about the only guess I can draw up.

It was at 11pm at night and the area I live in has mostly elderly or middle age working class people in it. Not a hot spot for activity, trust me.

Finally a friend got a job with the company as a tech and he came out and checked the shit out and it was poorly connected. He put in an amp and new splitters too and we had a much better connection after that. He left the company a month later though because they were absolute crap he said. He caught holy hell for doing what he did at my house even though it was the right thing to do. I guess they have a policy to not replace parts unless its 100% broken and not just wearing out. So shortly after I changed my ISP again and haven't looked back. For the past 9 years I've had OUTSTANDING service both via the phone and techs that come out. (Though I've only had to do this about 5 times in 9 years.)
