Re: Gaming accomplishments thread, week June 23rd
Saying its Devil May Cry -1 isn't really glowing praise.
RPGs don't usually "pick up" until after the first seven to ten hours, in my experience, because they have so much to teach you before letting you loose on the game. At where you are in the game, you're not even past the first half of the first tier of Tartarus. It gets way more dynamic once you start picking up more party members and personas.
That aside, it was Lament of Innocence that reaffirmed my belief that Castlevania can't be good in 3D. In played more like old school Castlevanias mixed with DMC, which was more of a step back than the leap forward that the SotN and Aria/Dawn of Sorrow games have been.
Its weird, too, because Metroid took the leap to 3D without losing much of anything that Metroid was. Castlevania has partially followed Metroid in design since SOTN (though some inspiration came from Simon's Quest, to be fair).

Persona 3.. eh. All I have heard about it is "omgwtfepic" but after 4 or 5 hours I am not really impressed. I am assuming it will pick up more later but for now I will go through the other games I want to play more first. I hear it's also very long, so it would be better to get through some of the shorter games first.
