  • So, what would a Discworld MMO look like?

I've been reading Terry Pratchett more and more lately. To the point where I started comparing posters here to main characters. (Feba as Rincewind, Murphie - Twoflower, and then the analogy broke down trying to describe Mhurron as Hrun the Barbarian and Kitten as "The Luggage", although Grandmom made one kickass Granny Weatherwax). So, I started thinking about what it might be like to MMO in the Discworld setting.

Pratchett said in 2006 he didn't want to create one.
but there's already a Discworld P&P RPG out that he did write for, so I figured he may eventually come around

If that happened, what would you like to see in one?

For instance, perhaps we could title it "Age of Cohen" and play 80-something barbarians in search of treasure, maidens, and old man rub. Maybe we could play as wizards in the Unseen University and work our way up to 8th rank by assassinating older wizards, and avoiding attempts ourselves. Perhaps we could play as explorers on the continent of "XXXX" where its so dry everyone has to drink beer instead of water.

I love the book Interesting Times. I've read it a few times loved the old barbarians i think they were called the silver horde led by Cohen. Kinda pictured him like a troll from WoW.

I think i'd enjoy a MMO of Discworld only if i could have some diamond teeth like Cohen. I think we should add we can play as one of twoflowers daughters and lead the red army to over take hunghung.

I hope this sounds worse than it actually is.

Nah, Discworld is a farce on fantasy writing in general. It's probably much worse than you even imagine. Not to say it wouldn't be fun as all hell, though. Look at how much fun people have on LOTOR online playing as monsters, for example.

"Rushed into a temple, killed the prieshts, shtolen the gold and reshcued the girl."
        "Not in so many words."
        "You do it like thish."
Two inches from Rincewind's left ear a voice broke into a sound like a baboon with its foot trapped in an echo canyon, and a small but wiry shape rushed past him.
By the light of the torches he saw that it was a very old man, the skinny variety that generally gets called "spry" with a totally bald head, a beard down almost to his knees, and a pair of matchstick legs on which varicose veins had traced the street map of quite a large city. Despite the snow, he wore nothing more than a studded leather holdall and a pair of boots that could easily have accommodated another pair of feet."

Being a warg is fucking awesome. There is nothing better in the world than getting the killing blow on your own Kinmates. And then logging back on to hear 'Yeah, Eledir was tossing around the word 'traitor', Leiane.' That was giggle worthy. If Spiders weren't nerfed to hell, I'd still be playing that, too.

Oh c'mon, you'd be a great Rincewind. Lady Luck's chosen pawn, the one guy in the world everything fantastic happens to, despite all efforts to the contrary...
