Well, it seems that Nintendo still continues to dominate the field in Japan (I still can't seem to find American figures, maybe they don't exist? /shrugs). The PS3 is slowly climbing, I don't see Nintendo dropping anytime soon, the DS Lite is still a hard thing ot come by, and with "It's a wonderful World" and Gyakuten Saiban 3 comming out on the DS this August, I see even more DS sales going on.
Also, has Doki Doki Majo Shinpan been released yet? That kinda seems to have died off.
I read something once that estimated that over 89% of Japan will own a DS by 2012. Not the DS's market share with the GBA and PSP, 89% of Japan's population XD
Doki Doki Majo Shinpan came and went. The pedophiles of Japan got their treat and now they seem satisfied.
Wii got a pretty big sales boost due to Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors which sold around 200,000 copies in its debut week.
And Feba, Inu did mean Gyakuten Saiban 3. 4 was released a little while ago in Japan. They skipped the DS version of 3 for some reason, so that's just coming out next month.
Xbox 360 once again doomed to obscurity in Japan, I think it sold around 3,500 units. PS3 sales are getting...healthy, at least. Considering Japan has the shittiest software lineup for the console worldwide, 13,000 units a week ain't half bad. They'll likely continue to rise, as a couple of major titles like Minna no Golf 5 are just around the corner.
And it is safe to say that Nintendo officially owns Japan. 16 of the 20 top-selling games in Japan last week were on Nintendo platforms.
Does everyone in Japan own like 2 DSes at this point or something? Just how long can the thing stay above the 120,000 per week mark? It's mind-boggling to say the least.

I'm gonna buy a psp in the near future and maybe a Wii next year depending on the games that get released for the console. Right now Resident Evil 4 and Umbrella Chronicles seem like decent reasons to buy one, but we'll see if I have enough time to play.
In any case I'm happy both Nintendo and Sony are doing good on sales in Japan, as it means the supply of games of my favorite generes (all japanese) is secured.

Raydeus, quick note before i leave for baltimore, but if you don't have a DS, honestly, i'd go that route, I have both (DS and PSP)... I havn't touched my PSP in a year.
Thanks for the suggestion but I'm as interested in the PSP's music and video playback as I am in portable gaming , and since I don't feel like buying an Ipod and a DS (and carry both around) the PSP seems like a better option for me.
Plus I really like the PSP's design, specially after the new model (lighter with better battery life) comes out.

It's honestly the other way around for me, hehe. I play my DS for like a week when a new game comes out, and most of them fail to hold my interest for long. Meanwhile I'm still playing stuff like Portable Ops. Definitely looking forward to Silent Hill Origins, Crisis Core and God of War: Chains of Olympus.

I go through phases too. I used to be just about all DS all the time, and I used my PSP for MP3s. Which was bad because I spent $250 for my PSP, then $80 for a 1GB MemStick at the time just to play MP3s. I could have gotten a 30GB iPod for that price.
Then a friend got a PSP, and his excitement over it got me playing it again. I then went like 3 months with out touching my DS. Then Planet Puzzle League came out, and I took to that crack like a true fiend! Didn't touch my PSP in 3 weeks. Had it not been for accidentally wiping my MemStick clean, forcing me to try to restore all the extras I gained in games or put my Lumines 1 & 2 high scores back in place, I might still be playing my DS.
Lumines II is great for playing while talking to customers on the phone. ^^
I told myself I wouldn't bother with buying one of the new PSPs for myself, but that extended battery life seriously appeals to me! That's one thing I love about my DS. The power lasts quite a while. I've left that thing on for a 10 straight hours before and still had juice to play it at home. After a few hours of playing at work, I have to bust out my charger and climb under my desk.
Size part doesn't mean anything to me either way. I like the weight and feel to my PSP.
Maybe im getting too old. But I hardly touch my consoles at all these past month. Been lurking mainly in Command and Conquer 3 online matching room playing unranked matches... D:
I got myself the DS harvest moon, but I seriously hate the whole casino thing.... Seriously, they're adding too many stupid shit into harvestmoon now... my favourite one still remains the first PS2 version, the one you can still made your cows and chicken naturally and have to train your dog to herd your animals... that's the best -.-

The first 2 videos were great, I couldn't stop laughing while watching the Wii Fit ad.
The other 2 videos I didn't like at all, the PS3 one would've been good if they had left the 360 advertising out like they did with the Wii song, and I couldn't stand watching more than 30 seconds of the last one, man that whiny guy is so freaking annoying.

Yep, they were from about a week and a half ago, Sorry I didn't get to respond to this thread, I was busy at Otakon.
And, I hate to break it to you guys, but for the new PSP-lite (hah), the battery is about 1/2 as good, not twice as long.
While the PSP Slim is definitely an improvement over the PSP Rotund (degree of improvement may vary between users), there's a little issue concerning the system's battery life. Seems you can expect around 8-10 hours of gaming from your new PSP Slim...if you're using an old PSP battery. The new one, the one that comes with the PSP Slim? Expect around 3-6 hours.
