Final Fantasy Tactics. The story was enthralling, I loved it

Which I just realized is not a choice...so I'll join the masses and say VII.

FF VII. All FF games are sweet - well, except Crystal Chronicles, that one was so boring- but this one was the awesomeness.

Re: What is your favorite Final Fantasy game?

This is a difficult decision for me.

Final Fantasy I was a very indulging game. It was released with the intention of being Squaresoft's final production, seeing as the previous decade consisted of bad sales, but it took off faster than a speed-hack Thief using 'Flee.' I personally enjoyed the story, as miniscule as it was, and I liked the graphics. Call me a "two-bit" lover if you'd like, but something about those pixels just drives me batty. Red Mage ftw.

Final Fantasy II and III held my interest for a short while, and I stopped playing them midway through. I don't have too fond a memory of II, unfortunately. Square-Enix's reproduction of III on NintendoDS really aided in bringing it to my attention, but the game was just so hard. I lost my patience with it soon after picking it up. I can't even get past the second area.

Final Fantasy IV, I never touched. Same with V.

VI, however, was fantastic. I'm in the process of playing it again finally; you can never get sick of Kefka acting insane.

Final Fantasy VII. Okay, going to go out on a tangent with this one. I could not stand this game. Several of the characters were rushed (i.e. Cloud, Barret) and some weren't even given a feasable background (i.e. Tifa). While the story was good, the environments and NPCs attuned to them were horrendous, and some tracks in the background music make me want to plug my ears for good. Sephiroth was a mistake with the whole "Hahaha! Kill the planet! Jenova is my mother! Let's make a bazillion clones! Omgwtf Cloud, you like boys and you fail at life." I liked him better when he was real; alive. Not the sappy excuse for Sephiroth that you fight at the end of the game.

Final Fantasy VIII was an okay game, in my opinion. The reuse of the futuristic timeline bored me. Final Fantasy is meant to be a fantasy setting, generally without much of a technological influence. VII and VIII had technology up the whazoo. The story of VIII was really ... awkward. It kept jumping between Squall and Laguna so much that I thought they were both narcoleptic extremists. The characters were too interconnected and it felt like everyone was related to everyone else. It got repetitive towards the end. The final boss was also really randomly placed.

Final Fantasy IX was good, but we had some useless additions. For example, Quina Quen and too many required minigames. A game within a game is alright, so long as I'm not forced to do it so I can proceed in the story. This includes catching frogs and sneaking passed an animal in a cage. There was also another random boss at the end of the game. Necron, who are you again and why are we fighting you?

Final Fantasy X almost killed it for me. It was a good game, but some of the characters and their voice actors were akin to bricks hitting bricks. The continuation of another purely humorous character (you know who you are, Wakka) made me drool on myself as I slipped into momentary catatonic shutdowns. Tidus also reminded me of Zidane, whom I hate with my very existence.

Final Fantasy X-2 was a massive flop to end all flops. They got a new concept designer and scripter, and he completely ripped apart what could have been a lovely game. Well, that and they decided to throw in some pornography background music. And they made Blitz Ball uncontrollable by the player. I mean, what the heck?

I love XI and I love XII. I'm a little afraid of XIII, though. They're going back to the future.

Final Fantasy Tactics. Oh, my. I do believe I melted the first time I played that game. The characters were not absolutely retarded, the graphics and art style were illustrious, the music was produced by Hitoshi Sakimoto (enough said), and the story as a whole was amazing. The basis of the fighting system and story on the zodiac was ingenious, and the crusades timeline had always been something to interest me. To be honest, I don't think this game could have been any better.

I played Tactics Advanced once, for five minutes. Never touched it again. I'm also never going to touch Crystal Chronicles.

        --------

Overall, I'd have to say that I like Final Fantasy Tactics the most. It was a game that I played multiple times and never got sick of, and I also fell in love with most of the enemies you faced. It was fabulous.

Call me strange, but I would have to say FFX-2. It was probably the first RPG which a masculine man could play in front of his college friends without them thinking "Nerd". And was it honestly that bad? The battle system was great, the story was a nice break from the recent emo-tastic shenanigans of previous FF games. There wasn't just some mad man trying to kill the world for power, or for the satisfaction of saying "HAHA,I killed j00!". He was doing it for the woman he loved, which is honestly a more realistic reason then "My alien mommy wants it!". Plus, it showed that heroines can be as strong-willed as guy heros.

Plus, it had a lotta purdy lights
