Mew mew mew! Japan: The best country of all time?! I'm giong! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE
Re: Mew mew mew! Japan: The best country of all time?! I'm giong! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE
Congratulations!!
I have one question though, have you been to Japan before?
If not, I may be able to give you some tips on places you must have been and things you must have seen before you go back home.
Re: Mew mew mew! Japan: The best country of all time?! I'm giong! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE
Nope, but I'm planning on mostly staying in the Tokyo area for budgetary reasons (I know, Tokyo and budget lawl, but that's where the school is). I'm not really looking for a list of the hot places; I'll probably check out some sights, but I'm more interested on just being on the ground, in the language for now. I'm intending to go back later (career related), so it's not important to me that I hit everything the first time nearlysomuch as simply keeping it affordable so I can go back.

Well there's more then enough to do around Tokyo, even on a low budget.
Considering the time you'll be staying there I don't think you''ll need my advise for must sees and such.
But if you're looking for good places to eat without spending a fortune I know a few nice places.
What I can advise you is to get a Suica for the Tokyo subway and train systems.
This'll save you a whole lot of trouble at the ticket machines.

yeah, Suica/Pasmo seem like an absolute must-have. I'll ask you about those cheap eats sometime; probably after I settle in so I actually have an idea of where I am. I know where the school is; I have a basic idea of where it is in relation to the rest of Tokyo, but no real way to get a concept of it from the map.
Re: Mew mew mew! Japan: The best country of all time?! I'm giong! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE
The map will make a lot more sense when you're there.
Except for Shinjuku-station, if you put something in a coin locker over there absolutely remember where you put it!!
The last time I took a group there they forgot and we spent 2 hours looking for the right locker at every single exit.
(Trust me, there are a lot of them >.<)
Fun memories though, because I got the group lost earlier looking for Shinra (The Square-Enix store) and we accidentally stumbled into the S-E HQ.

While you're over there, make sure they know we haven't forgotten about WW2. Do something in the name of Pearl Harbor, and make sure you yell it out while you're doing it.

I usually hate seeing Mews and Sqeeeees in topics, but I'll approve of this one. congrats Feba!

I have to say that I passed the thread up at first because I thought it was another "this is the best game ever" thread. Second glance I saw Febas name and had the immediate impulse to biff him one upside the head! I truly am excited for you, Feba! I may be taking a trip to Tokyo in the spring myself, so you'll have to give me a tour. My buddy lives in Osaka and he can give me a tour of that area, so I'm covered! lol Are you staying in a dorm or apartment? Watch out for the extra fees. They can charge you 3 months security and you also have to give them a gift of money sometimes (usually one months rent). And you may need a JP sponsor, but they are having an economic crisis right now in real estate so you might be able to find a place that doesn't ask for one.
One more time...
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! CONGRATS FEBA! MEW MEW MEW!!!

It's not fully worked out yet, but it's all through the school at this point, unless I decide to seek my own housing for some reason, which I probably won't.

Well hopefully you'll be able to bypass the way they do things when they rent to foreigners if you go through the school.
It's funny because this weekend my JP friend told me that he's considering taking some college courses in the US this fall so he might come early and tour the US and Canada. So we're doing a trade! lol
