There is no period in recorded human history during which man is not killing his fellow man, whether on an individual or group level. The conclusion I draw from that is that there is an inherent urge to do harm. The reasons for it might vary, but the urge is there and acted upon.

Not one of you can truthfully tell me you've never secretly wished harm upon another person. Anger and violence are a part of us.

It's the ultimate solution to a problem. I don't wish anybody any kind of harm, but violence is a large part of life (for reasons other than inherent urge) and I'm willing to participate as the need arises.

Yes, most if not everyone will at some point wish harm upon another. But most if not everyone will at some point feel love and be loved by someone. Be they family or friends. Why is the violence proof that we are all shitty people some of whom can barely hold on to not acting on those feelings but the acts and feeling of love are merely errant thoughts and actions that reveal nothing of our true selves?

Already presented my final (and got my grade on it) but I still have to show up to the final day to listen to my classmates present their shit. Two hours of listening to people who really don’t know how to speak in public talk about their boring-ass websites. Kill me now.

I even asked if I had to go and the prof said that I did … I have perfect attendance … honestly tempted to say fuck it.

Oh hey, we haven't had an Aksannyi rant in a while, have we? Oh goody, well, it's time for a new one. (We kinda touched on this the other day, but this has to be said):

Someone mentioned that straights hating gays is not the same as gays hating straights - that gays can hate on straight people because of the way they've been oppressed for so long.

What? No.

Hate is hate.

If you hate someone of X group (race, sexual orientation, religion, whatever your poison) for any reason SIMPLY BECAUSE they belong to X group, then you are a hateful racist person. There's no excuse for hate. "But they oppressed us for Z amount of years." "But they make laws to keep us from doing N thing." But nothing. It doesn't matter what the majority of X group did throughout history. If you hate ALL of them simply because of who they are, then you are a hateful racist person. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HATE.

Hate is fucking hate.

Because you know what? Not ALL of the members of X group are taking part in those hateful actions. Not ALL of the members of X group hate you simply for being something that you are. So to hate ALL of the members of X group when probably a good percentage of them don't hate you is fucking ignorant and hypocritical.

So hate me because I'm white? Because years ago, my ancestors may have had slaves? Sorry, but that's not an action I had any part of. You don't get to hate me for that. So hate me because I'm straight? Because a whole bunch of other straight people in Washington who are NOT ME decided that gays can't get married? I actively vote IN FAVOR of homosexual marriage being legalized. You don't get to hate me for that, either. Hate me because I'm cis-gendered? Because a bunch of other close-minded cis-gendered people are scared or turned off by the idea of a trans-person? I think it's awesome that people can be themselves. So you also don't get to hate me for that!

Because I don't hate any of you.

Hate is hate.

You don't get to hate this white, straight, cis-gendered person, simply because I'm a white, straight, cis-gendered person. It doesn't fucking work that way. Hate me because of my actions. Hate me because of my words. But don't hate me because I am a white, straight, cis-gendered person.

If you do, you're a bigot, and I feel sorry for you, but guess what? I don't hate you. I just hope you realize your hypocrisies one day.

Maybe just where you are; where I work, I joke about Mexicans--with Mexicans.

It's a nice mixing pot here, we got everything from an India Indian to some Persian/Arab dude to a Southeast Asian with a South American country's passport. And, yes, plenty of Mexicans! Even got a couple of Black people to go with the White people!

It's not just race though. It's homosexuality vs. heterosexuality, it's cis-gendered vs. trans, it's x religion vs. y religion, it's religious vs. nonreligious ... hate and bigotry are everywhere. I see it daily. And the people who always used to bitch about how badly they were oppressed by sheer hatred of other races are now turning around and hating right back. You'd think that if you spent years of your life (or centuries of your peoples' existence) battling hatred from another group, you wouldn't turn right around and hate them back.

Whether or not you have the so-called power to oppress is irrelevant. There are blacks who hate me just because I am white and for no other reason. How is that not as racist as whites hating blacks? That's what I'm talking about. People think it's less severe to be one of an oppressed group and hating on the group of oppressors. Hate is still hate. If you hate because I'm a member of N group then you're still a bigot, and you don't get to justify it with, "Well your group of people did this awful thing to my group of people so I hate all of you."

That's what I'm trying to get across. But people still think it's okay for blacks to call me a cracker or gays to spout out "straight privilege" at me or whatever other shit they want because "it's only racist when whites do it to blacks." No it's not. It's racist if it's done to someone: as a result of their belonging to a particular group of humans.

If I hit a black person, it's automatically a hate crime. Motive is never a factor. Motive is always race in these cases. Always. If a black person hits me, it's never because I'm white. It's never because of my race. That's never their motive. Why? Why is it like this? I had some black roommates a few years ago, they were loud until 3AM most nights when I had to work in the morning. I hated them. Not because they were black, but because they were rude, inconsiderate bitches. I bet if I told that story without the race being mentioned, no one would think anything of me hating loud and rude inconsiderate bitches. But the minute I happen to bring up that they're black (or the minute someone finds out they are), suddenly I'm a racist pig who hates black women. Not a normal person who likes to sleep at 3AM and not listen to rude, inconsiderate bitches make noise.

And while that example was about race, it goes with everything, every group that faces some oppression. It's only racists if it's going in one direction. In the other direction, it's "justifiable."

Whatever. Bigotry is still bigotry, hate is hate. And that's what's got my panties in a twist again. You don't get to tell me that it's "okay" for you to hate someone belonging to a group and then try to justify it with what that group as a whole did/does. Hatred has no justification. They don't want to admit that they're just as bigoted as the people oppressing them. But they are.

Whites are not the only racists.
Heterosexuals are not the only sexual orientationists (I made that up, I honestly don't know if there's a term for that.)
Men are not the only sexists.

I'm tired of people telling me that it's wrong to feel the way I feel because of my "white privilege" or some crap. It's not wrong to feel wronged by being hated for no fucking reason other than I exist with the skin color, sexual orientation, religion, and gender that I am.

Christ I have spent too long on this now, I'm gonna get in trouble at work. This is one of my biggest hot buttons though, seriously this kind of "reverse" (not sure how it's reverse because hate is hate) bigotry is just as shitty as "regular" bigotry.

I'm tired of people telling me that it's wrong to feel the way I feel because of my "white privilege" or some crap.

The whole "privilege" terminology sets me off. It's the same shit, just from a different angle and every time I hear someone bring it up it makes me want to just go to town with a meat cleaver. It pisses me off to no end. I can't help it that I was born as a white heterosexual male in a nice stable suburban family. That's just the hand life dealt me. So when I hear friends start riling themselves up about "privilege" this and "privilege" that, it just makes me rage. As you say Aks, it's every bit the same kind of discrimination that we've seen in the other direction.

The system might be stacked in my favor but that's not my fault and it doesn't make me the villain.

I fucking hate Tumblr.

Genuinely interested to find out what brought up this Aksannyi rant, even though I largely agree with it.

As far gay people hating straight people, I find that to be a largely self-defeating way to approach things when straight people are the overwhelming majority. It gets especially crazy when I sometimes read about the opinions of gay folk that actually take a separatist approach. You'd be shocked to find that there are gay people against marriage equality because they feel gays that want to get married and have kids are just self-hating gays that want to mimic straight people.
