Used Car Dealers and young men that put their brains in neutral.

I warned him. I told him not to buy out of state. I told him to buy within his means. I tried my best to impart my knowledge about buying used, especially out of state, but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo he just had to do it his way.

Where is he now? With a $12,000 USED car that had issues less than 24 hours after he bought it. He drove it home from Chicago and got up the next day and it wouldn't start. Lovely. Ok so the simplest thing to go wrong would be a dead battery but since he drove it all the way from Chicago, it should have a good charge. Oh well, go buy a new battery. Batteries usually hit you for $50-$70. NOPE! This is a specialty battery so he had to pay $170! So much for the $400 you saved for 6 months of insurance. You'll be paying month to month now at a higher rate. So I badger him into calling them and complaining and they say they'll pay for the battery. Ah...a victory...or is it? He called today and they said no, they wouldn't pay for it. DUN DUN DUN! I wanted to rip that phone out of his hand and fix it but he's a big boy and can do his shit himself. He got off the phone and I told him that he shouldn't let it be and should call back and ask for the service manager and bitch to him. Well he didn't want to but I gave him "the look" and he did. The manager finally agreed to pay 1/2 of the cost....oh well...partial victory.

Ok new battery in (which he didn't do himself, his father did it...even though I told him not to...) and does it start? Yep, it does. Oh but, low and behold, whats happening now? The car stalls when he's driving it. Pull up to the stoplight the other day and *poof* it stalls. So the only aspect he listened to from my talk was that if there was a warranty available that he should purchase it. But, of course, since its a used car the warranty only covers very specific things and I can guarantee you that they will probably say its not covered. We are going to take a look at it tonight and I'm hoping its just that the plug on the afm isn't plugged in tightly....please god....please.... /sigh

The icing on the cake is that he didn't listen to one very important piece of information....he had $4400 saved up and he put $4000 on the car so he'd have $400 left for 6 months of insurance. Well the battery took $200 of that $400 so now he has $200 and $80 of that is for his insurance. Soooo that important piece of info.....he has to pay tax on this car TWICE! So when he goes to the DMV, he has to cough up $600+....wtg kid..../sigh

It's stories like that that convince me when I finally get around to purchasing a vehicle it should probably be a brand new one. There are some things you just shouldn't skimp on and a car is probably one of them.

Nah, it's honestly about knowing what to look for before you just rush in head first and buy. I've bought cars before and I was never completely fucktarded about it. And I'm a woman, so you know salesmen are thinking they can pull one over on me. Some people are just clueless. My mother could not buy her own vehicle. Hell, she can't even pump her own gas. (I shit you not.) She would get owned hardcore if she bought used.

Me, I can hold my own. When I get another vehicle, I will be buying used. I much prefer the lower payments and insurance.

I think buying a new car is a complete waste of money, tbqh. Quality used cars are out there as long as you are diligent in your research. Buying used can save you TONS of money which you can put towards something else (like a motorcycle :D).

Peeve: People who claim that they are immune to certain foods... specifically spicy. I like to consider myself a hot-sause enthusiest, and even I am not immune... far from it. I made myself a really spicy stir fry the other night and took the left-overs into work the next day. My co-worker took one whif of it and told me "That's nothing".

I hate people like that. So... as a true enthusiest, I went home that night and broke out the hottest sause I own, Blair's Ultra Death. Although it's a realy cheesy name... take my word, it's the hottest sause you can possibly buy that is meant for human consumption. It contains a pepper highly reguarded (up until recently) as the hottest pepper in the world, the Bhut Jolokia (or Naga Jalokia).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the grading scale of hot sause... experts use the Scoville scale to determine the intensity of spice within a food product. The scale starts at 0 and goes to 16,000,000. The average Tobasco Sause as well as Jalapeno rank in at around 2,500. Cayenne Pepper topps out between 30,000 and 50,000. The hottest Habenero reaches 580,000.

The Bhut Jalokia contained in Blair's Ultra Death reaches 1,050,000 on the Scoville scale. The only 3 things hotter than it are the Infinity Pepper (1,065,000), Law Enforcment Grade Pepper Spray (5,000,000+) and pure Capsaicin Crystal (15,000,000-16,000,000) <--- Not for human consumption.

I fed him one drop of Blair's, by itself... The colors he turned were magnificent.
