Peeve: anime getting licensed and suddenly all of the fan-subs vanish. I don't want to watch the poorly done dub/poorly done sub, I want to watch the well done fan-subs, but nooo....

There was a show my friend and I were trying to track down in its entirety a few years ago. It finally got licensed and made it to the states and they've gone and altered stuff in it for the version in the states. I just want to watch the show I originally tried to hunt down, ya know? Stuff is frustrating.

Peeve: Lower back pain from sitting in an office chair all day. It's starting to catch up with me. Maybe it's these new chairs we got or maybe it's just sitting in a chair roughly 16 hours a day, but goddamn is it annoying. I'm gonna need to see a doctor about it at this rate

An administrative assistant at work here used to sit on an exercise ball at his desk. He had perfect posture and no back problems. Might be something to look into Cid.

Squiggs has good point about the posture. Sitting for that long everyday with bad posture will weaken what needs to be strong ... next thing you know, you've blown a disc. I blew out a disk almost 3 years ago and it's only now finally starting to feel better. Strengthening your core really helps a lot. I had to use a cane there for a while. Take care of your spine. It's really the only one you get.

I'm banking on cyborgs becoming a reality. I want a new metal body to replace this inadequate fleshy one that keeps breaking down.

More to the point, I'm not sure how to properly take care of my spine beyond minimizing how often I slouch while sitting.

Unless your work has desks high enough for you to stand up sometimes (which is actually ideal), you'll have to work on the posture as best as you can and try to move around as much as possible, as well. Then again, to me, standing has the added suckage of making your feet hurt by the end of the day. So it's a toss up.

If you go to the doctor and can prove that the chairs are causing the issue, you may be able to take it to your Facilities manager (if you have one) or someone who can order another chair, one of those ergonomic ones. We had people at my old job who were required to use those by a doctor's note, and the company paid for them. If the person left, they'd keep the ergonomic chair for the next person who needed it. (Cheap bastards wouldn't spring for everyone to have them lol.) They're expensive as fuck though.

Well we did just get a new batch of office chairs after Chritsmas, so it's entirely possible that the chairs are part of the problem.

Because goddamn are there some shady folks out there trying to make a buck on people's suffering by selling miracle exercises.

Really... the basics will get things done. Anything that strengthens your core muscles (Torso/abdomen) will help. I do planking and pushups as well. I can't and shouldn't do sit-ups so I hang from a pull up bar and lift my legs. I wish I had something so I could do reverse sit-ups (hang upper body over edge of table and lift your torso so you are lying straight).

I hate when people get angry with me for enforcing rules. These are not new rules. Everyone is aware of the rules (either because they've been around for a long time or because they are posted everywhere or because we tell them the rules everytime we see them). If you get caught breaking the rules, own up to it, apologize and move on. A profanity laced tirade just shows how petty you are. And, no, your call to apologize an hour later does not help.
