Honestly I'm afraid of going in circles. Also goes hand in hand with semi-clostrophobia.
I was in europe in one of those turn pike circle road thingies...and started freaking out. Anytime I'm trying to de-esclate (in reality, arguing) a member over the phone at work and she/he keeps going in circles with her/his excuses i start panicing then turns into hyperventlating. I live in a cramped loft aparment so i'm not afraid of enclosed spaces...just going in circles for prolonged times...

Also fear of drowning. Although I was a lifeguard for 4 years at a lake that was more than 20' deep and I'm a great swimmer. I'm always having these bad dreams of getting into a car accident and flipping upside down in this lil creek and not able to unlock my seatbelt and drowning upside down... >.>

I don't think many people here are actually suffering from phobias.

Indeed, a person's "greatest fear" and a phobia aren't nessesarily the same thing; the two terms are mutually exclusive.

For example, my "greatest fear" can be said to have the realization that I missed XYZ particular once-in-a-lifetime opportunity or event that I would be incredibly interested in, and am only capable of experiencing it through second- and third-hand forms (thus diluting the original event/experience), however I have no particular phobias in relation to said "fear" (or any real phobias that I recognize as such in general to begin with).

From my understanding, an actual phobia is a medically diagnosed mental condition that can inhibit a person's actions through no fault or design of their own, while a fear is just a reaction to a particular outcome that's based on the subject's preferences and prejudices (and thus, under direct control of the subject). The key component that I have observed is the level of control a subject has over the situation (internally); without control, it's a phobia, with it, simply a fear.

I'm afraid of commitment. Not a phobia, but I don't like the idea of being chained down and not having options.

That leads to a fear of most of us Guys, the fear of rejection. You examine the girl and then the doubt comes into your mind, will she think me an idiot, what do I say that doesn't make me sound a geek, will she look upon me as a piece of excrement, will i jsut cave in and make gurgling noises when trying to say anything to me, will she alraedy have a boyfriend/girlfriend, is she around friends who would encourage her answer differently, how will i take it if she turns around and dismisses me, what will she say to others after I say something etc etc. Thats the intimidation you are suffering and its all self conciousness and fear of rejection. Its the biggest obstical (damn I can't spell today) that faces us all when we spot someone we like.

If i can't handle things i would have jumped along time ago or been diagnosed and prescribed meds for depression which neither have happened. If i can't handle things I wouldn't be the project manager of a MN based insurance company. pretty simple

I don't like clowns. Probably because of when I watched the movie IT when I was 6-8 years old. Well, I didn't watch it so much as I sneaked a few peaks while my older sister (who wasn't supposed to be watching it) was.

Not an outright phobia, but whenever I see a clown, I always think something else will break out of it.

Also kinda linked -- dark spaces behind me. Like, for example, late at night and I just got out of my bathroom... I swear I think there's something in the darkness behind me.

And, on another related note, when I was much younger, I used to be afraid of the toilet. That was soon after watching the movie Look who's talking... if you've seen the movie recently, I'm sure you're aware of which scene I'm referring to. I got over that rather quickly, though.

My Girlgriend is deathly afraid of Lions. Thus she has never Seen Lion King(any of 'em). And when they popped up in I am Legend she was screaming and clinging to me.(kinda funny actually)

I feel like this too. I always leave the light on in my room and door open so when i get out of other room i can see th elight ahead of me and sometimes i evern make a short run/jump to get to the light faster. I'll even turn the light on in the room im in...go to next room turn on that light. Go back to preveious room and turn that light off. Go back to room with light on and then go passed it to next room and turn that light on. Walk back to preveius room and then go back to the last room with the ligh ton. Thus pretty much always being in the light lol.

The sad thing is they get a kick out of it. Although, it's natural to think it's funny, since it's something that you'd think is weird to possibly happen, but hopefully there's a time when you understand to bear with what's going on and...hold in your laughs.

The second video had a hot audience, though, it's so fake it's stupid. If you're a sorry sack of a person who's afraid of arbitrary objects you're not going to let Maury exploit it for kicks. You'd HAVE to know he's going to pull something on you, and knowing that you'd never agree to show up.
