    Re: Lucid Dreaming

One dream that stuck in my memory was waking up for school getting ready then just as I was getting on the bus my alarm went off waking me. It was so realistic that I was confused when I woke up since my senses in dream were the same as after getting up. (I think I was probably trying to figure out if I was still asleep)
Generally I don't remember my dreams unless I'm woken during them.

      Re: Lucid Dreaming

My memory sucks, so I seldom remember my dreams, much less go lucid in them. D:

Even if there was a dream I remembered for a day, there's no way on Earth I can recall it now.

However, there's one dream I sort of remember the topic of, though I don't quite remember the experience. Probably the only reason I remember it is because I made this thread about it (and, dang, that seems so long ago, and so many things have changed since then, but it was only 9 months ago!).

Maybe I should hijack this thread as a dream journal for what dreams I do remember. That could help. And maybe I should Google that thing on Lucid Dreaming that Feba was talking about.

        Re: Lucid Dreaming

I think I may have had one last night. (This is following up on my promise to steal this thread.)

I'm, for some odd reason, sitting outside right by a sidewalk close to where I live (the one with the rotting armadillo, which, thankfully, didn't make an appearance). Some guy sitting far off greets me, and I to him. At this point, I'm far from lucid.

The guy has a dog which I think may have been a bloodhound (though, I've never seen one in real life before). All of a sudden, it starts running after me. I kept sitting, thinking the owner was going to get control sooner, but he doesn't (though, I'm pretty sure he didn't sic his pet on me).

After I finally realize the beast's enmity towards me, I start running myself, but looking back, I know the thing is capable of far greater speeds than I. I throw the candies I was eating on the ground (yes, the dream started with me, sitting in a chair, eating candies) in an attempt to distract the hound, but it doesn't phase him.

All of a sudden, the thing is about to bite at my right leg. I get shocked enough to realize it was a dream, but not enough to wake up or lose the dream (though, I did notice I was considerably closer to consiousness, and when I did wake up shortly thereafter, it was morning). So, I pretty much defend myself similar to the way Armando did, except what I did was I mentally transformed the rabid mutt in to a docile . . . pika (which I have also never seen in real life).

I'm in peace again, and I reward myself by starting to pet the thing. I couldn't control the dream anymore, because I could only maintain it for so much longer before I woke up (and, like I said, it was the beggining of the day for me, anyway). Upon waking up, I take mental notes of the dream to later post on here, and wonder what the owner would have thought of me turning his vicious pet in to a friendly lagomorph.

And there is my first, albeit pathetic, entry in to this hijacked dream journal.

          Re: Lucid Dreaming

Just had one this morning. I barerly remember most of the details except the part right before waking up.

          Kind of goes like this, "Here pet come here," From a sexy looking woman covered by shadows. I myself was laying on the ground exausted while two other woman joined in laughing at how tired I was. Then one of them who has this purple blue and black swirl latex on her pulled me up and have my head inbetween her bosom. "Rest with me then so the delights will be more enjoyable." I think it was the words before I woke up. v.v;

Damn that tops the weirdest and most enjoyable dreams I've had yet.

            Re: Lucid Dreaming

I have lucid dreams quite often. They have been fun/entertaining, terrorizing/sad, or just meh. I also have flying dreams quite often and not just a few inches above the ground. I am usually trying to fly to help someone and its difficult to get off the ground or high in the air but I make myself go as high as the power lines or tree tops. Other times when I have terrifying dreams, I usually have someone or something chasing me and trying to hurt/kill me. I try to control the dream and reach a safe place but I always feel like I'm running through quicksand. Sometimes I make it but if I know I am not going to, I then tell myself that I'm dreaming and wake myself up.

The bad thing about lucid dreaming is that it exhausts me! I usually do not get a good nights sleep when it happens. While it is very interesting and always amazes me, it is very tiring.

Does anyone that can lucid dream, walk in their sleep? During times of angst or stress I tend to walk in my sleep quite a bit. I've styled my hair, made coffee in a perculator but forgot to put on the top, worked on woodworking projects in my basement, bought stuff online, and many other things during sleepwalking throughout my life. I know I've been doing it since I was about 13 because my mother told me many stories about it.

EDIT: Though this might not be on topic, I talked with a family member about dying and dreams. My aunt had skin cancer and was dying. We would talk about what it was going to be like in the final hours. While she was in the hospice dying she wasn't lucid very often but at one point she was. She woke up and acknowledged me and told me that she was having the most vivid and beautiful dreams. She went in and out for 2 days before she died but I'll never forget when she told me that. I've always think now that we might have some of our most lucid dreams right before death.

              Re: Lucid Dreaming

I dont tend to really remember my dreams that often, But I do have a reoccuring experiences that freaks me out. I'm not quite sure what it is or if its to do with dreaming but I was wondering if anything like this happens to others or if somebody could shed some light on the matter.

              What happens is,

While I'm "sleeping" I seem to wake up, I can see all around me I can see my bedroom but I'm unable to move after looking around a little I start to feel like I'm not alone in my room, I cant see anything but I feel the presence of something else and I start to feel quite un-nervered by it. Sometimes I've tried to call out but my shouts don't seem to add up to much more than a whisper.
Eventually I tire myself out and happen to fall back to sleep once again.

this has happened to me for years since I was a teenager,
Does anybody know what it is?

I hope you cleared up your mess after that one (common you can't let me Jarre keep things clean around here.....)

On a more serious note I occasionally get those spinning dreams where you actually clutch the side of the bed and (in my case the leg of my gf, which woke her up and advertedly woke me up via an elbow..) I have had feeligns of Deja vu though remembering seeing somethign in a dream or something being said then it happens and you sort of take one step back and think what happened after this, but you can never remember that. i did go to a dream counsellor (yes they exist!) to try and help determine the best way of getting rid of one of my nightmare I had for many years (it was to do with my job when I was a firefighter and I will not discuss it) I still get it on occasions but I am in more control now.

Dreams are very strange especially when you are dreaming of somethign and you suddenly open your eyes and see something that was in your dream, you swing at it (yeah get that martian) and it disapears, you turn on the light and nothing.

There was a series in teh Uk on dreams and sleeping activities shopwing people waking up and reacting to certain dreams (one kept jumping out of a window!!) The dream world is one of lifes mysteries about why we dream when we are recouperating / charging our batteries.

                    Re: Lucid Dreaming

Copy/paste from another forum w/ a very similar topic. Not sure if it was a lucid dream, it was just weird and..more weird after.

Two years ago, I had a rather starkly vivid dream. Most of my dreams I can't remember well, or in clarity, but this one was both vivid in dream, and the memory has stayed that way out of it.

I was in a 'primitive' looking long-house. By primitive I mean it looked to have been built long before even the medieval era. Rough logs, wooden furniture, just a fire pit of sorts inside, and so on. I was dressed in leathers and furs, myself.

There were two young men with me in the house in a similar dress style, and I got the feeling we were waiting for someone. I don't recall their names. I don't think I ever spoke them. I got the sense they weren't family, but rather part of my 'group' or something along those lines. Men I trusted explicitly, but was not related to.

One of them I felt a rather strong emotional connection to. As if I cared for him, but got the feeling that I hadn't yet told him. Suddenly the entire house began to shake, an earthquake. Just as one of the guys was telling me we needed to leave, my mom walked in the door.

She looked different to some extent, and was dressed in fur/leather as well, but it was my mother. She looked panicked and told us 'We need to go. Now.'

So we ran. The ground was still buckling, and I glanced back over a hill and got a sense suddenly that something was about to come over that hill and after us, that it was something we did not want to meet. A group of men, or an invading group, something along those lines, was the vibe I got.

As we ran, the men fell back a few steps, I suppose to provide cover for when the group came over the ridge, and mom and I ran on ahead. I suppose due to the quake, a soft bit of the earth gave way, and mom slipped in, so I was trying to pull her out while everything's still shaking.

I pulled her out, and we ran on. And that was pretty much the end of it. I don't know what happened to the guys. :/

...That's not the odd part of the dream really. The odd part happened that next day when I told mom about it. We were going to the bank and I told her 'I had the most wierd ass dream last night.' and kinda rattled it off. She went very quiet and looked at me for a minute, then said 'I had that same dream.' Though, from her point of view, as her dream started with her coming *to* the house to tell us we had to leave, from that point on, it was the same.

She saw two men, myself, and the was whatever-it-was chasing us, the earthquake, the hole she fell in.

...That kinda freaked me the hell out.

As for the rest of you keep on dreaming I like reading your dreams as I dont really dream myself, its pretty cool to read what other people dream about.

It's not just bad, it's cliché bad. Like laying in bed, unable to move, unable to open your eyes, and hearing children laughing, but freaking out because you get this immense feeling that something bad is coming, and it's coming fast. It's not something you can rationalize.

                          Re: Lucid Dreaming

Oh Hypnagogia, I didn't know that was the name for it in english but I've been through that one too.

Kinda like lucid dreaming you get used to it the more it happens, the last 2 times it happened to me (like 6 months ago the last one) I was able to actually move and get up after a bit of struggle, only to wake up and realize I was in fact still dreaming.

I'm sure I open my eyes while it's happenning, becuase I see exactly the same thing when I actually wake up. And yeah that feeling that something or someone is actually trying to seal your movements makes you want to move no matter what, like something reaaaally bad is going to happen if you don't resist, kinda hard to explain but you have that strong feeling.

It's kinda fun, specially when you learn to break free, only to realize you were still sleeping even though you think you actually got out of bed.

Edit > I was thinking about it some years ago, and at the time I thought that maybe it's part of a residual primitive instinct our ancestors left us, kinda like a fear of being eaten by a predator. Of course I've never been eaten but I think that's the kind of feelings an animal would go through when a predator is holding them to eat them. o.O

Or maybe I'm just thinking too much about it.

Oh I had a few of those back when I was 8-16 years old.
Most happened years before the actual event. Then when it passes irl, I get this frozen pause cause it felt way to familiar, yet it wasn't to me.

One was when I was in elementary school I had one of red kicking a kickball on a baseball field next to a hill, while at the time i had that dream, the playground I was at never had such a field. A few years later I moved and poof, it happened, same way I kicked the ball too and I didn't realized it until I saw the ball flew from my foot.

Another one was in middle school, I had a dream of where I was running through a locker room that green painted, and felt like i was in a hurry. This one, it also felt like the air was humid. Though when it passed was during the last time I went to that locker room 3 years later in highschool at 10th grade.

Its so weird on how they only occur to me after they passed then I completely recall that it was from a dream, or as I called it, Dreamja Vu.
                            They've been drastically occuring less and less since high school though, as the erotic ones, happen alot more. >///>;

But my favorite, yet, back then scared the wits outta me, was the nightmares of being chased by Chucky from Child's Play. That and the ones of spiders which still haunts me to this day.

                            Edit:

I had a weird dream last night as well.

It started off as me walking around, outdoors I think. I couldn't see the horizon, only my feet and a small distance in front of me, but I could not move my head. I kept walking while trying to move my head, (when I did, I can recall a pressure in the back of my head as I tried to move it any way) but I couldn't, so I stopped. The next thing I remember is clenching my fists as tight as I could, then I floated from the ground a few inches, but then fell right away.

At this point, I hit the ground and am jarred awake, or so I believed until I remembered that my room is pitch black, and that I'm not supposed to be able to see. At this time, I walked to my door, and it was turned the opposite way, so that it swings outward when you open it, instead of going inward, and I was also fully clothed in the clothing that I had worn to work. I made it to my back yard after winding my way through some hallways that had somehow made their way into my house.

I clenched my fists again, on an impulse, and concentrated on flying again, as I had been forced to in the previous segment of my dream, and after a moment, I could hover a few inches off the ground, but scrunching my legs or clenching my fists didn't help me get any higher. As I fell this time, I was actually jarred awake as I hit the ground at the same time my alarm went off.

Creeped me out, but I make a point of recalling my dreams as I wake up over anything else. I'm not sure why, but I've been doing it since I was 10.

Then getting yelled to voke the mobs, even if i'm already tanking on and about to die. Suddenly its Beaucadine, and Jeunoraider Gepkzip was looking me straight in the eye, i thought he was gonna finish me off then poof, his AoE charm, suddenly I'm attacking and easily finishing off the members of the main alliance.
