Re: Real Life Assasin
BS
Temporarily reaches the temperature of the sun? Which part of the shrimp creates nuclear fusion through a complex series of molecular exchanges?
The whole production is fake, obviously. Not a single second of raw footage. I will keep the existence of this creature in question until more information surfaces.

Re: Real Life Assasin
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the energy given off as heat by the bubbles would instantly vaporize the water around it, as well as cook all the life around it. I'll look and see if I can find anything legit about it, but for the moment I'm definately calling BS on that.
EDIT: from the wiki on Pistol Shrimp
The pistol shrimp snaps a specialized claw shut to create a cavitation wave that generates noise in excess of 180 to 200 decibels relative to 1 μPa at a distance of 1 m, and is capable of killing small fish [7][8][9]. The snap can also produce sonoluminescence from a collapsing bubble, also known as a cavitation bubble [10]. The heat generated by the snap exceeds 114 degrees Fahrenheit (No Source Cited). The light is of lower intensity than the light produced by typical sonoluminescence and is not visible to the naked eye. It is most likely a by-product of the shock wave with no biological significance. However, it is the first known instance of an animal producing light by this effect.I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2

Re: Real Life Assasin
Here's to add to Gentoo's post.

Seems legit.
P.S. if someone can find a method to actually duplicate the "devastating power of the bubble" in the above mentioned articles in a small, easily creatable situation, I will love you forever. They are making it sound easy. "Bubbles can unleash extraordinary amounts of energy when they collapse; for example, if water passes over an obstruction such as a ship's propeller or a turbine blade, bubbles can be generated which, when they collapse, can punch a hole in solid brass or steel". Any ideas? If I can duplicate this, I would have a field day.Last edited by DieselBoy09; 05-31-2007, 12:52 AM.Twilightrose- THF/49 WAR/24 WHM/53 BLM/32 RNG/15 BST/25 NIN/27
