  • How much would you pay for a really good gaming PC?

(This question is just about the tower - don't include the monitor, keyboard, etc.)

Assuming it could handle any game (even upcoming ones) with all the graphics turned up, smooth movement at a decent widescreen resolution (like 1680 x 1050), 2GB of memory, 500GB hard drive - it could hold its own against Alienware, Falcon Northwest, or Voodoo PCs.

Don't worry about what they tend to cost right now:

How much would YOU be willing to pay for it?

$800-$1000, $1500 if you hit me on the head really hard.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

For a top notch PC, how much would i pay?

      Depends:

If it is a SLI board with 2x video cards and 2-4 gigs of ram. As well as all the other bells and whistles.

1k - 2k. depending on the video cards and the Ram that was included.

A uber PC can run you over 2k , depending on the deals you can find. (ie. Water cooled system, 1 terabyte of hd space, 2 video cards, top notch sound card, 4 gigs of ram, Uber mother board, etc)

are you asking how much it would run you to purchase one? or how much I would be willing to pay to own one you built?

does it come with windows? if not, not more than 1100$ (since anymore than that and I can out build your price) if it does, then perhaps up to 1700$ if it was -really- pimp (i.e. 600W+ powersupply with multiple 12 V rails, at least 1 TB of HDD, at least two optical drives, a DX10 compatible videocard system, dual core at least, if not straight up multicore, etc).

anything above 1800$ and again, I could outbuild your price.

          1600$ can get you a 500GB, 2GB, C2D, 8800GTS setup, which is what i've got.

If I had more, I might've spent more, but it's up to you. Look at the games you play, and how long you want it to last. It might be cheaper to buy a 600$ computer every year than a 2000$ computer every few years. Look at your needs, wants, and budget.

If I wanted to, I could easily find ways to spend thousands of dollars on computer parts. Two 8800 Ultras in SLI, a topend motherboard, 4GB of quality RAM, and a Quad core is easily 3000$, then you can count monitor and other things...
