  • Mario wedding cake

This cake was entirely edible except for the Mario and Princess on top. It even tasted good. It was seriously the coolest wedding cake I have ever seen. I actually have more photos I have taken - some more detailed shots taken with a friend's D70s. I will post a link to them when I (or he) gets them online. Some more detail will be given at my site, Alt Text when I get more info on the bakery, etc. UPDATE: More from the Groom's blog. I have entered this photo in the Joystiq Gears of War Book contest and plan to give the prize (should I win) to Brent and Annette the bride and groom. The winner will be the person who uploads "the niftiest photo of foodstuffs crafted to look like something from the world of video games" to flickr and tags the image with "joystiqfood". How can this not win?

I'm sure you Brits have your fair share of fancy pants bakeries. Besides, I know for a fact that Brits have a fancy for $400 umbrellas made from Ancient Lumber and fine silk...

IDK if I could have that as my wedding cake; I wouldn't let anyone near it, nor would they be allowed to eat it. I'd have some angry guests...

Well, it would probably be for the best that no one eat that cake... It appears to be coated in a thick layer of fondant which is IMO not nearly as good for cake topping (as far as edibility) as frosting. My brother's GF and my cousin are both in pastry and neither one likes fondant; I'm also not "fond" of it.

It could also (unlikely) be marzipan... also not my fav.

We do?.. Do i own a brolly? Nope , I just get wet... $400 is about £230 which comparred to some "Designer" items ain't much.

My point is that Britain has just as frivilous luxury products as the cake in the picture or the aforementioned umbrellas which I had stumbled upon after I broke mine and was looking for one a bit more sturdy than my $5.00 Gas Station collapsible. I doubt I should be able to afford such a cake as it is likely in the $500-$1000 range. However, weddings are often fancy affairs at which time the normally frugal become a bit less moderate. Such as it is, we have our Riche and you have yours. I could also mention Bentley and Astin-Martin as we have no comparably priced consumer vehicles made in this country (barring private jets). Of course, the cake's price is also not noted. Art (even video game related) need not necessarily be pricy.

Was going to save this until we got back from our honeymoon, but since it's making the rounds on the web already, I figured everyone should see the cake from our wedding. :) Annette surprised me, we were never going to have a cake, after months of searching for a suitable Princess Peach topper (to…
