FWIW I check in on this thread occasionally because I know nothing about the LFL, but I do enjoy watching football (even bad football: I root for the Lions!).

Everything I know about the LFL came from links/videos posted by J9. Watching the videos posted isn't a terrible way to waste a few minutes throughout the day.

Because I'm not the one trying to justify locking up J9's threads just because I don't like them.

People here loves bashing J9, but whether she is trolling or not if you read all of her threads the ones starting with the drama are everyone but her. And then when she replies with a few mews it just adds fuel to the fire but she never offends anyone. On the other hand everyone here seems to think offending J9 is the cool thing to do, which is bs.

For instance how many warnings have you given people for insulting J9? And how much real moderation have you guys done in her threads? Have you even noticed how people who are normally moderate just go full blown retarded when it comes to J9 posting? Where's the moderation there? So to just join the party of bashing J9 is very low for the "moderation" team. You guys need to follow Icemage's example if you really want to call yourselves moderators.

The constant j9 bashing is a concern for me as well as the posts by j9 that I consider to be spam. My hope is that the new rule will deal with both problems. Legit topics of interest should get through just fine, threads that nobody cares about will kill themselves, and posts complaining about a thread will be ironically punished by allowing the thread to continue.

I'm way more concerned about the constant J9 bashing and the rationalization of it. I think this forum is better than that, but when you see posters and moderation going full retarded about it it makes me sad.

The short of it: Raydeus is (practically) the sole poster in at least one other thread from the top of my head, including the "live action video game" video thread. Your new policy would adversely affect him as much as j9.

Right, because coming in here to tell Cid how easy he is to troll is totally legit.

We don't condone feeding J9 or coming into a thread just to complain about the fact that J9 is posting. That's why the requirement for locking the thread is that no one post, not even to gripe about it. However, we also don't condone using the forum as a personal blog or constantly bumping threads which haven't had any discussion in months and whose topics no one cares for. That's just spam, and she continues to do so despite knowing full well no one cares for the topic.

As often as we do for insulting anyone else. People have called J9 ugly things before and they've gotten warnings for it.

If people really want j9's threads to be locked, they'll stop posting in them bitching about how they should be locked. If people actually want j9's threads to stay open, they'll post in them normally. If you care that much about j9's threads remaining open, all you have to do is make posts in them and discuss the topic. I don't see what's so hard about that. If you're really that concerned with the rule being applied equally, you can do the exact same thing you've always done and report the post. Not rocket science.

Edits and auto-merges don't count, but yes. I doubt it will come into play in non-j9 threads though. There's rarely a problem with people not replying to things they actually care about. The trouble is getting people to stfu about things that nobody cares about.

Why?

Because counting Thanks is easier than checking if the views changed, and the number of views could be bumped by random people that don't yet know how J9 threads go or plain old spambots. Also, the very act of checking if J9 posted something worthwhile would bump the views.
