Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
It was also cute that AKB48 also provided a song for the movie soundtrack that just fit right into the movie:

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
my fiancée dragged me to see Twilight, after hearing me tell her repeatedly that it is simply not a good series. She had only seen the first movie.
After the credit rolls finished, the first thing she did was apologize and admit I was right.
If you have a choice between twilight and sitting at home staring at the wall, choose the latter.

Oh gods those things just reminded me of the smell of the stickers and the toys and all the crap girls would take to school with them. >_<;;;Originally posted by Omgwtfbbqkitten View PostI suppose Strawberry Shortcake does apply, I didn't know that toyline had gotten an update.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
Sorry, I had hotlinked an image of the characters but it's gone now for some reason. The reboot is actually CGI, if they had bigger eyes it'd be hard to tell them apart from the Sugar Rush racers.Originally posted by OmgwtfbbqkittenI suppose Strawberry Shortcake does apply, I didn't know that toyline had gotten an update.Well, if it helps any you could tell her you don't need to be a video game fan to like the movie.she's no video game fan but would make the sacrafice for me.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
They felt more like a reference to Strawberry Shortcake to me.Sugar Rush's characters feel like they're ripped out of the Bratz toy line and tossed into the food-themed levels of a Mario Kart game.

But yeah, I saw this movie last Friday and I was smiling all the way.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
Finally got around to seeing it and while there was boundless love for everything in gaming (and snack product placement, but it a funny way) to be found in the movie, I got a different story than I was expecting. Ralph's arc was actually rather conventional, but it was the subplot of another character that was much less so. There was not only a challenge for Ralph in that subplot, but an interesting social commentary tucked away in there. Saying would be spoiling, though.
There was even a re-tooling of "Pac-Man Fever" called "Wreck-It, Wreck-It Ralph" which was actually performed by Buckner & Garcia. I had the "Pac-Man Fever" .45 as a kid, so that was icing on cake.
There were all kinds of fun little details packed into the movie, the residents of Fix-It Felix Jr. all moved on four frames of animation. Root Beer Tapper was the after-hours bar some of the characters go to when the arcade is closed. Many of the video game character cameos are small, but I find that to the movies credit, as making heavy use of Pac-Man or Sonic would have turned it into something more like Toy Story The characters from Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush felt like they, came from games that were fairly familiar anyway.
Sergeant Calhoun, for example, looks like a FemShep from Mass Effect, talks like Sergeant Johnson from Halo and fights creatures that would feel par for course in Gears of War, but in a game that is more obviously Call of Duty. Sugar Rush's characters feel like they're ripped out of the Bratz toy line and tossed into the food-themed levels of a Mario Kart game.
Any long-time gamers are going to just love the movie regardless. Kids will probably miss some of the references and just love the comic humor, but hopefully they will be left with a curiosity about some of these older games featured in the movie. Then again, some little kids are thrilled just to have an SNES, PS1 or Game Boy Advance these days, so for some the appreciation is already there.
I give it five out of five barrel-tossing gorillas.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
In that line of thought, I do hope we do get to see some hero characters though.
Now that I think of it, crossovers really aren't alien to video games. We have things like Capcom/Marvel fighting games, Final Fantasy cameos in Disney games, and Mario gets all sorts of crossovers. Some make a little more sense like the Super Smash Bros series and even the Olympic games with Sonic. But then I believe there was a party game where he crossed over with Dragon Quest characters. And that was just far out there for me.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
I will be extremely disappointed with this movie if Ralph gets to be a hero at the end of it.

LOL. For some reason I totally missed the "Will npc in fps 4 food!!" sign. That's both adorable and all sorts of messed up.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
Looks like Burger Time may also be in to movie as its "entrance" is to the left of Pac-Man. I guess this hall is a place video game characters gather after-hours.
