Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
Looks like Chun Li is also in.

Poor Qbert and company seem to have fallen on hard times
Rumor has it Cammy might also appear, though I'm sure if that's the case they might adjust her costume. If you look closely, you see someone like her in her Alpha getup in the background, just above our sad green baddie in the foreground.Last edited by Omgwtfbbqkitten; 06-25-2012, 03:16 PM.

If that's the case, they probably pulled out because they wanted it to coincide with the Robin Williams movie and It was just too late.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
I'm just saying what Miyamoto says.Donkey Kong was its own game, the Popeye game happened and came to the arcade in 1982. It was one of my favorites for its time.Maybe the company that owns Popeye saw Donkey Kong's success and realized they were dumb for canning the game. Miyamoto said he had five game ideas so one of those could've become Popeye just as easily as they turned Popeye into Donkey Kong.Miyamoto: Right. And it was then that, having rigorously analyzed what exactly made people want to play one more time, I sketched out ideas for five games. At this point, Nintendo was the licensee for Popeye.
Iwata: Yes, the company was releasing Popeye playing cards and Popeye Game & Watch titles.
Miyamoto: That's why at first I asked if I could make a game using Popeye. The basic concept of Popeye is that there is the hero and his rival who he manages to turn the tables on with the aid of spinach.
Iwata: When you put it like that, it's the same as Pac-Man, isn't it? (laughs)
Miyamoto: Yes, it's identical to Pac-Man! (laughs) So I sketched out a few ideas for games using Popeye. At that point, Yokoi-san was good enough to bring these ideas to the President's attention and in the end one of the ideas received official approval. Yokoi-san thought that designers would become necessary members of development teams in order to make games in the future. And that's how Donkey Kong came about.
Iwata: But originally it was going to be a Popeye game.
Miyamoto: That's right. But while I can't recall exactly why it was, we were unable to use Popeye in that title. It really felt like the ladder had been pulled out from under us, so to speak.
Iwata: So even though you were making a game about climbing ladders, you had the ladder pulled out from beneath you before you even got started! (laughs)
Miyamoto: Great gag! You deserve a standing ovation for that one! (laughs) Anyway, at the time we were at a loss as to how to proceed. Then we thought: "Why not come up with our own original character?"
Iwata: So basically Donkey Kong and Mario came about once the ladder had been pulled out from beneath you.
Miyamoto: Exactly.
Iwata: Miyamoto-san, you really do lead a charmed life!Last edited by Armando; 06-08-2012, 03:59 AM.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
When the company that owned the rights to Popeye changed their mind about making a game, and the game was already over halfway done. Nintendo used to print playing cards for 'em.So, where along the way did the spinach get replaced with mushrooms?

Well, Donkey Kong was originally going to be a Popeye game, and Ralph isn't that far off from Bluto.Starts out as big, mean-looking brute on top of some construction in an arcade game, only to be thwarted by a handyman.Yes.Actually, IIRC, arcade Donkey Kong actually became Cranky Kong, and who we now know and love as "Donkey Kong" is actually his nephew or something.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
This entire movie almost sounds like it could be about Donkey Kong.
Starts out as big, mean-looking brute on top of some construction in an arcade game, only to be thwarted by a handyman.
Later becomes hero of his* own game series. (Actually, IIRC, arcade Donkey Kong actually became Cranky Kong, and who we now know and love as "Donkey Kong" is actually his nephew or something.)

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
Zangief wrestles bears, I guess that makes him an enemy of PETA. He does seem to be drawn to do bad simply because he's not too bright. That's not to say he isn't insightful and well-intentioned, though.
I wonder what characters they're holding out on for later. This feels like Toy Story for video games. It was said Dr. Wily is also supposed to be in it and someone said they thought the saw Paperboy.

Re: Wreck-it Ralph trailer!
Looks pretty good, friend of mine showed it to me last night. The whole "video game sprites are people too" idea reminds me a bit of Reboot. Although, why is Zangief is a bad guy? Probably should've gone with Sagat. I wonder how much they're paying to have those characters there?
