As I said. You're assuming Comedy Central used to have balls. Right there in the title. I'm pointing out that they never have. Protest censorship all you want, but don't act like the network is suffering some fall from grace.

They give a show to a guy that's known to steal jokes from other comedians. You know, Carlos Mencia. Dunno if its still on, but what trash that was. Dude stole from Bill Cosby's "Himself" and thought no one would pick up on that?

Jon Stewert goes off the deep end when Colbert starts to outshine him. Important to keep in mind what inspired The Daily Show was SNL's Weekend Update. There used to be there was party asskissing there. Again, in comedy, nothing is sacred. Once something is, it no longer comedy.

Then they start censoring religious figures in the one show that never backs down from anything. A show that first was willing to risk Issac Hayes' loyalty to continue making their point.

I would certainly call this a fall from grace, when things go from better to worse but don't get better, what would you call it? Just Viacom? OK, yeah, MTV isn't really about music anymore. I would say the WWE is still about wrestling. Someone can die and the show must go on there, they won't dance around the facts.

There are risks that come with expression. I quite frankly don't like your dismissive attitude on the matter. It doesn't mean shit if its nothing new, but the more and more we give up our freedoms for a good night's sleep, the more we lose those rights. It is shameful and disgusting to cave in to these people, new or not, now matter what outlet of the media you are.

Opening yourself up to lawsuits and losing employees isn't a sign of balls. Standing up to threats is. And they're very much not doing that.

Incorrect. There was no plan to nuke the twin towers (and why would it just be the towers). Septermber 11th would have been a major setback for the development of MGS2. The game was about to go gold for November release They'd have to rework and entire portion of the scenario considering the game came out in November of the same year.

No, you're wrong. In the Japanese version, a nuke launches from the armory thing (forget what it was called, the thing under the big shell that was housing all the metal gear rays) and it explicitly showed both of them coming down. Instead in the NA version it simply cuts to Raiden and Solidus amidst all the rubble, leaving you to wonder wtf happened. Konami cut the scene out from the NA release because they didn't want to be insensitive to Americans so soon after 9/11 (can you imagine the PR nightmare?)


EDIT: Okay could have sworn it was a nuke but no, Arsenal Gear just shot down the Statue of Liberty as it crushed most of Manhattan Island.

I find it sad that respect seems to have gone out the window in favour of exercising free speech at every opportunity. I'm not advocating the suppression of it, I just dislike the fact that certain people seem to be of the opinion they can toss ridicule or belittle other people's beliefs and fall back on free speech as a, "Fuck you I can say what I like!" I don't have to give a crap about your feelings. We all have to live together and is tolerance of beliefs other than your own so much to expect?

In America, we don't tolerate people who believe they have the right to control what other people say. Which is exactly who Stewart was speaking to.

EDIT: In case you don't watch these shows, or even recieve them in England, I should clarify: The depictions of Muhammed in South Park have been the most positive depictions of any religious figure, including Santa Claus and Jesus. The only aspect his character has ever had is existing. In the same episode, the Buddha was shown snorting cocaine, and Jesus had an addiction to internet porn. This from the same series that told the backstory of Mormons in song by going "<bit of story info and then> DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB". This from the same series that compared scientology to a group that travels the world molesting children. Muhammed was treated with a huge amount of respect, compared to every other religious figure on the show, and the episode was still censored to the point where not only was his image not displayed, but his name was bleeped.

lol that did cross my mind. It was still very annoying that there was absolutely zero transition in the NA version, just BAM you're in the middle of the city and shit is in ruins. I could have sworn there was talk of a nuke going to go off in the actual game though. I've been meaning to replay 2 for the hell of it since I have the collection but Raiden just pisses me off.

Much as I would like to agree, you do realize he's poking @ the radicals/extremists and not your every day Muslim right? Very important distinction here. It's not like they're the religious group to do this sort of nonsense either. Christianity's history ain't exactly all flowers & sunshine either.

There was, but it was never imminent. The Sons of Liberty (Solidus' organization) had intended to detonate a nuclear device over Manhattan. Their logic was that the EMP created would knock out the centers of global commerce and networking (the NYSE specifically was shown at this point IIRC), and break the control of the Patriots. From Manhattan, Solidus intended to found a new state to overthrow the Patriots. This is why he made the comment about intending to hand AG over to that one girl; he only wanted to disable the Patriots, not control them.
