My understanding was that most film writers were in the Writer's Guild.
Yeah, the strike sucks, but apparently its almost over. Maybe they can still salvage a few more episodes of The Office and actually end Scrubs the way they want to end it.
I'm thinking next week's episode of Heroes would have been the mid-season finale rather than the whole thing's finale.
Maybe they won't have to end Chuck early, that show is just too damn good.

You can get jp programming already.

I know that DISH has programming from other countries and I'm sure if you ask your cable company theres like a Japanese pack.

Also, if your area isnt a diverse one at that, you probably wont get that programming option. in LA, you can find a whole bunch of different programming options from the cable providers.

Right but then we would have to pay for 1. the individual channel itself and 2. have to still argee to a bundled price. thats 2 prices for 1 channel. i dont argue that its something that would be great if the prices would alow it but its something thats just can happen at this time.

Back to the topic though, ill get some more info on this and post it later tonight while im drunk....

My cable is pricey enough without having to deal with ala carte nonsense. And you know that they would charge more per channel than they do for a bundle right now.

That shouldn't last as long as this one b/c they don't have the "fall back" of reality shows to go with. But they DO have little known writers trying to make a name for themselves in Hollywood so if the movie strike happens and lasts awhile, expect really shitty movies.
First off, this strike involves both TV and Movie writers. Transformers 2 Production was attempted to get rushed to beat out the strike, but it didn't happen and now the film is going to be pushed back.

And as for the 'crappy movies' that will come as a result. I believe this link will speak for itself:

Originally, the next Heros ep was supposed to be the mid season break, where it ended on a cliff hanger. The strike caused the writers to speed up the story to have it resolved in time so it didn't end like that and just linger. My understanding is that next season will be closer to the original idea the writers had of using new heros with new powers over coming back to such a similar cast.

Also, Chuck was picked up for a full season run iirc. So after the strike it'll eventually come back with new eps.

            A) Happy Bday, don't get too hammered and B) The cable network that I use gives us the option of paying for special "On Demand" channels that once we subscribe to we get full access to whatevers on and can watch at any time. The episodes available change every week, but often cycles through series often. Only one I have is Anime Network, which shows some fairly obscure stuff as well as some popular stuff I won't see anywhere else. So technically, some cable companies already offer what Omni wants, just not to the same extent.

TF 2 has been confirmed and TF 3 has been signed but all but confirmed at this point. After reaching $700 million worldwide from the movie alone for spending about half of what Spidey 3 did, I didn't think that'd surprise anyone. That's completely ignoring the absurd amount of merchandise sales, including *constantly* sold out figures and having the (rather crappy imo) $80 Super animated transforming BB toy be the first item in months to knock the Wii out of the top toy spot.

It was a popular freakin movie >.>

[QUOTE=LyonheartLakshmi;742495]Now that I know about that, it makes sense why Heroes seems so rushed right now. I kept seeing the commericals referring to the final episode coming up, when they've barely broadcast half of a season's worth so far./QUOTE]You would have been seeing the Heroes "Finale" even if there wasn't a strike. Last season was a single Volume, this season is broken up into 2 volumes. So Monday is the end of Volume 2, and then Volume 3 would start probably after the start of the year since December and January are big re-run, "show the first half of the season over again" months.

Some shows are rumored to be "O.K" for a while. Smallville was rumored to have up to 16 or 18 episodes written already, so by the time they hash out the terms of the strike (Which I think they had every reason to do.) writing will resume and the show won't see any real delays. But sweeps week is going to be a rough one for a lot of networks this year.

To be honest its kind of funny first it was the writers for broadway on strike now TV shows, probably next is going to be music. I kind of wouldn't be surprised at all though, everyone seems to be going on strike these days. Whats going on with American, someone tell me!?

It's not first, then next. They are all part of the WGA. It's the same thing.

What we may get at some point next year is a SAG strike, which would suck. But that seems unlikely.

I've heard their contract stuff is up in the next year or two, so apparently they were really backing the Writer's Guild so that it will help their negotiations later on.

Cyprian: partially because it gives them leverage. They started the season and the studios don't want to lose money on only getting half a season. It makes them more needed. Otherwise they'd just be ignored for 8 months.
