Howdy. Anyone else looking forward to Oscar-night as much as I? I really think the following year has been one of the greatest in terms of filmmaking in a while. There were plenty of excellent films, including Chicago, Spirited Away, and The Two Towers.
What are you most looking forward to seeing win?
In Best Song, I really hope U2 picks up the award with their "Gangs of New York" track, "The Hands that Built America". I think U2 is the greatest band Rock and Roll has come to known, and the song reflects the beauty and power of love and peace.
In Best Film, while I don't think its quite likely with all the other great movies released last year, I would like to see "The Two Towers" win. Being The Lord of the Rings, it just automatically deserves the award. Give it up!
In Best Actor, I want Jack Nicholson to win for "About Shmidt". It was an excellent movie, and by far one of his best roles in a while.
In Best Animated Short, I really want "Mike's New Car" to win. "Monsters, Inc." is by far my favorite Disney-affiliated film, and Mike's New Car was pretty excellent, not to meantion hilarious. ^_^
And finally, in Best Animated Film, it's quite obvious that Spirited Away will take the cake (or naked gold-dude...). While I think it could win any of the past years, 2002 was a bleak year for the world of animation. Thankfully we had Spirited Away to light it up. Excellent film, excellent choice for best animated film. Did you hear that Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki will present the award for Best Animated Film?
